The weekend saw the Rams take out an emphatic victory against the in our Elimination Final, also returning to Novo for the first time in forever.

Losing the toss (again), the Legs chose to send the Rams in to bat, which has proved tricky for us throughout the season. But, cometh the hour, cometh the man, Dan Baker held the Rams steady throughout the match with a well earned 94 knock against a solid bowling attack, while sending the ball to places never hit before at Novocastrian Park. Jimmy, Brian, Skip and Callo also did their bit, with the innings capped off by a signature ramp shot on the final ball from Vandy to put him on a PB of a 400 strike rate. This saw the Rams finish on a respectable 164 runs.

Where the Rams really shone though was with the ball. From the get go, the fielding was tight, with the Legs losing a key batsman very early from some unreal fielding from Vandy and Skip. Jimmy, returning back from injury to a full bowling run up also took a key scalp early, only conceding 11 runs off his full spell. Jordy was able to take 3 wickets off his 7 overs, only conceding 10 runs in the process. Some unreal fielding from Jack Neaves saw him take another classic catch in Wheels’ first over, with Wheels capping the day off with a maiden 5fa to seal the deal, inspired by the 2025 Grand Final performance of Brian Furber.

The Rams will take on Workshops next Saturday at a neutral venue TBC as we looking to seal our place in the big dance.

ELIMINATION FINAL TIME

Today sees the Rams take on The Fine Legs back at Novocastrian Park after a long time on the road. Following last week results, the Rams dropped down to 3rd place, and therefore today becomes do or die for our season.

With a full strength side and a game against a class team in the Legs, today should be unreal.

D DAY!

Today sees the Rams take on Workshops away for the third time this season on the most TLC deprived pitch in Newcastle. Today is huge for the Rams, it’s simple - win, and we take out the minor premiership. Lose, we’re cooked!

Our final regular season game of the 25/26 season before finals, the Rams will need to be firing on all cylinders to get the result we want.

WE ONLY POST WHEN WE’RE WINNING

Yesterday saw the Rams brave the scorching heat against South Wallsend taking out a win that puts us in 1st place heading into the final round of the season next week. With no toss being taken and the Rams allowing Southy to go in to bat, the boys made a great start with the ball.

Wheeler took two successive wickets to put himself on a hat trick, before Ryan Callaghan also put himself on a hat trick not long after. Jordan Riley also had a chance to take a hat trick following from last game but was unable to capitalise. Southy went into the first drinks break looking grim, but one of their batsmen were able to put in a solid shift to keep them in the game, with Callo taking another two wickets. Wheeler finished the job in the final over, taking two wickets in two balls to put himself on a hat trick TWICE in one game, with his hat trick ball coming next week.

With a respectable 154 to chase, Jimmy and Dan Baker started the innings well, before there were brief signs of a collapse as we lost 3 wickets in quick succession. But up stepped Callo and Jimmy, as they put on a 100 partnership with Callo scoring his maiden 50 half century for the Rams to guide us to a win. Jimmy in his last two innings has scored 150+ runs without being dismissed - someone do the calculations on his average!

With results in other games going our way, we finish the round in 1st place again, with a game against 2nd place Workshops away for the 3rd time next week remaining. Next game will decide the Minor Premiership, and also whether the Rams will get a second chance in finals. It’s an absolute MUST win - if you can be there, be there!

After a tough loss where the Rams dropped the ball along with some brilliance from the oppositions player, Phil Inn, the lads look to bounce back against South Wallsend away tomorrow.

2nd - 4th places are all tied up, with movement tomorrow guaranteed with 2nd and 4th playing each other in another fixture. Big shift needed from the Rams to bring us home as high as possible before the finals.

WE COULD ONLY GET 2 LADIES FOR THE GRAPHIC!

Tomorrow sees the Rams take on The Fine Legs in their inaugural Ladies Day at Smith Park. After 2 losses on the trot, tomorrow is a huge game for both sides in a top of the table clash.

Ladies will drink free tomorrow, and there will be a sausage sizzle with drinks, and all funds raised will go toward the McGrath Foundation (cash only!).

We hope to see as many there as possible to raise money for a good cause, and to watch some top class cricket.

WHAT’S 9 PLUS 10?

A game filled with controversy saw the Rams take another win against Ulinga on Saturday.

The tensions rose once again at the beginning of the game as for the second game in a row at Novo, Ulinga refused to sit with the Rams, insisting they needed to sit 200m away with their trailer on the other side of the park, baffling for us as one of the best parts of cricket at this level is mingling with the opposition team.

With the ball, although mass wickets weren’t taken, the Rams bowled fairly tightly for most of the game with Ulinga going in at drinks for 40 odd, and finishing their innings off on 96.

OR SO WE THOUGHT!

In a stunning turn of events where the umpire and the Rams had counted 20 overs, after leaving the field, Ulinga insisted that they had only faced 19 overs and called the Rams back out onto the field, despite using e-scoring! Some controversial calls were made about who could or couldn’t bowl the final over due to what was on the scorebook, but Brian kept it tight in the final over (2nd edition) to keep Ulinga’s score at 101.

With the bat, cricketing legends Don Furber and Dan Baker started the Rams off slowly, yet steadily, as we edged towards the win. However, tensions flared up again towards the ending of our innings as following a beautiful shot from Dan Baker, and Mack clapping this from square umpire, the opposition accused us of cheating with one of their players attempting to fight Mack. Do the math!

The attempts to rattle the Rams failed in the end however, with the boys getting the job done comfortably in the end. Has anyone got a fold out table and a marquee we can borrow for the away leg?

RAMS TAKE A CHRISTMAS WIN

Saturday saw the Rams take on South Wallsend in the final match of the year. Turning up to a burnt out change room and a bottle of broken hot sauce, the game was looking to be a spicy one.

The Rams lost the toss and went in to bowl, with South Wallsend putting on the pressure early on. After some tightening up, Wheels took a 2 wicket maiden with Mack and Jez taking great catches - this had South Wallsend going into drinks at 2/66. The Rams were unlucky a few times with about 10 inside edges (not even joking) missing the stumps, and after a while, South looked comfortable in their scoring. Matt Vandenberg wasn’t having any heads hanging low, and did his best to tell the boys to keep their heads up and to start talking (even to the blokes that were talking), and maybe this did actually work because up stepped Callo and Jordy to slow things down. Jimmy was also able to take a solid wicket on the last ball of the innings, with South Wallsend setting the Rams a target of 151 to win.

With the bat, it was a semi-slow start, with the 2 Josh’s opening to bat. Josh McTavish copped an unlucky stumping, but Corrigan looked to keep the Rams steady as he played some beautiful shots (they were all the same shot technically) to get things going. Stand in skipper Daniel Baker was looking goods, before a controversial call of out from one of our own saw him out from an “edge” to the keeper. However, cometh the hour, cometh the man, red hot off his denied hat trick due to forfeit last week; up stepped Jordan Riley. With the Rams at the same score of 66 at drinks, Jordy stepped up and the boys were off. Vandy did his best to throw a spanner in the works getting out to a missed reserve sweep on his stumps, but this allowed for the Greek Freak, Jimmy, to step up as him and Jordy combined with some beautiful shots to bring us right back into contention. Jordy was able to get a half century, with Jimmy improving his average even further with another not out, and the winning runs under his belt in the 5th last ball of the game.

A good way to step into Chrissy - our next fixture will be Rams vs Schooners at the Duke for our annual Christmas do. Go Rams 🐏

Saturday saw the Rams return to winning ways at home against Ulinga. The day started off with drama as Ulinga didn’t join the Rams by the club house, and the start was delayed while Josh Corrigan had to walk to MacBook across the field and set up.

With the ball, the Rams started out very strong, with Jordan Riley taking a wicket in the second over, with a catch from Wheeler, who later went on to take 2 catches putting him a net 0 after 2 dropped last week. By the end of the 5th over, the tone was set as the Rams held Ulinga to 1-2. The wickets continued to fall, and the runs stayed down, with some class catches from Jonny, Jimmy and Skip as the mid week fielding session that we had paid dividends. Don, Jimmy, and Jordy all took 3 wickets each, with Don standing alone at the top of the competition wickets leaderboard.

With the bat, the Rams were too good, with Brian proving that he might actually be a batter with another solid knock. The opposition tried to slow the game down with a storm looming above, but the job was done in the 14th over leaving the Rams to head to the Duke early. Vandy, with his expertise in the media has also recorded good clips of the game and some interviews with the team, so keep an eye out for the pilot of Rams TV.

Idk where we’re playing this week because the draw isn’t out.
