Derwent Hockey Club

Home of the Derwent Hockey Club - Results, Events and News The Derwent Hockey Club is the oldest continuously operating hockey club in Tasmania.

The club was originally two separate clubs: the Derwent Hockey Club; and the Derwent Women's Hockey Club. The two clubs merged and become one identity in 1986. The Men's side of the club began in the 1930s, and has remained in the Southern Tasmanian competition ever since.

🏑🧡 GOOD LUCK, DERWENT STRIKERS! 🧡🏑

The countdown is on! 🙌

We’re wishing our three Derwent players the very best of luck as they take to the turf in Newcastle this week for the Under 12 National Championships! 🇦🇺

It’s an incredible opportunity to represent Tasmania, test yourselves against some of the best young players in the country, and make memories that will last a lifetime.

Play hard, back yourselves, support your teammates and, most importantly, enjoy every moment of the experience!

The whole Derwent family is behind you and cheering you on! 🧡💙

Go well, Strikers! Make Tasmania proud! 🏑🔥

🏑 LIFE MEMBERS, LEGENDS… AND THE REST OF US! 😂

Take a look at this photo! 👀 You’ll see some of our amazing Life Members and dedicated volunteers who have given so much to Derwent Hockey Club over the years. ❤️🧡

Now, before you panic… we’re not asking you to give up your weekends, your social life or your sanity! 😂

But we are asking for a little help to keep our club moving forward.

Behind every great hockey club is a committee working hard to make things happen. We need fresh ideas, helping hands and people who care about where Derwent is heading. And no, you don't have to do what our Life Members have done — although if you want to stick around that long, we'd love that too! 😉

Whether you can help with a few small jobs, share some ideas, support our juniors or help guide the club’s future, every contribution makes a difference. You don't need to know everything about hockey, and you certainly don't need to do everything!

🏑 POSITIONS AVAILABLE AT OUR ANNUAL AGM:
🔸 President
🔸 Secretary
🔸 Junior Coordinators – Boys & Girls
🔸 Senior Coordinators
🔸 General Committee Members

We're looking for people who want to be part of the conversation, help shape the direction of our club and ensure Derwent continues to thrive for the next generation of players.

You don't have to be a superhero. You just have to be willing to help. 🦸‍♀️🦸‍♂️

📩 Interested in nominating? Contact Jim Ansell for a nomination form - [email protected]

Come along, have a say, bring some fresh ideas and help us keep Derwent strong. After all, many hands make light work… and we'd rather share the load than keep asking the same people to carry the sticks! 😂🏑

🧡💙 DERWENT GIRLS TAKE ON THE FESTIVAL OF INDOOR! 💙🧡

What a fantastic opportunity for our Derwent girls to hit the indoor court, represent their club and enjoy everything that makes hockey so special! 🏑🔥

Indoor hockey is all about quick thinking, fast feet, teamwork and plenty of determination — and it’s wonderful to see our girls developing their skills, supporting one another and embracing the challenge.

Win, lose or draw, experiences like these are about so much more than the scoreboard. They’re about building confidence, making friendships and creating memories along the way. 🧡

A big well done to all our Derwent girls who took part and families who make these opportunities possible.

Once a Striker, always a Striker! 🧡💙
