SheSAILS OPEN REGATTA

It's on next weekend! 30th & 31st August

Teams from Queensland (Mooloolaba Yacht Club, Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron/Southport Yacht Club), Port Hunter Sailing Club, Belmont 16ft Sailing Club, and NCYC will enjoy close racing over the two days on our fleet of Elliott 6 keelboats.

SheSAILS@NCYC OPEN REGATTA - 30 & 31 AUGUST 2025

We're excited to announce the dates and open entry for the 9th annual SheSAILS Open Regatta at NCYC.

Racing in a fleet of eight supplied Elliott 6 inshore keelboats, female crews of 3-4 will enjoy close around-the-buoys racing on the waters of Newcastle Harbour.
The event, previously held in November, will continue to offer a good mix of social and sailing!

For interstate and visiting crews there is the option to have a training session on the Elliotts the Friday afternoon before the event, then a welcome catch-up 'bubbles' in the clubhouse afterwards!

So . . . get your team together, send in your expression of interest, and get ready for a great weekend of racing and fun with sailing friends!

What a great weekend of sailing, learning and having fun together!

From servicing a fully operational trailer-mounted diesel engine, to hoisting spinnakers whilst sailing on chocolate milk to speed stuffing spinnakers and hearing inspiring stories of involvement in the marine industry !

Thank you everyone who supported the weekend. A special thank you to our wonderful guest speakers who gave their time to make our annual Bubbles & Troubles evening a success . . .

📸 SheSAILS PHOTO COMPETITION! 📸

We've been inspired to launch a SheSAILS@NCYC photo competition to showcase just how far SheSAILS reaches!

We're inviting you to join the SheSAILS Facebook group (https://www.facebook.com/groups/shesailsncyc) and post photos of your SheSAILS bag, umbrella, shirt, or any other merchandise in a special place.

At the end of the year, we'll award a prize or prizes for the most interesting, amazing, way-out, exciting, adventurous, far reaching . . . . shots!

So grab your SheSAILS gear and show us all the fun and exciting things you get up to!!!!

To kick off we have a photo by Rachel Castro of her SheSAILS 'food bag' at the Section Junction 4/5 near the Birthday Waterfalls on the Larapinta Trail. Rachel had to hang it in the tree to stop mice and dingoes eating her supplies!

We have a pop-up shop in the Trophy Room in the Clubhouse this weekend with loads of SheSAILS gear.

SheSAILS@NCYC Development Regatta

We are pleased to advise that we will be going ahead with the regatta over the weekend.

During today we have had clearing blue skies, gentle breeze and the Harbour is clear of any significant debris.

We have also reviewed the forecast for the weekend and are satisfied that the weather will be suitable for sailing.

It is possible that we may experience some rain showers during sailing so we would urge competitors to bring appropriate clothing.

We look forward to seeing everyone for our Education Session on Saturday - upstairs in The Bridge.

ENTRIES OPEN for SheSAILS@NCYC DEVELOPMENT REGATTA

The Notice of Race has been published and the entry portal opened for our 6th annual SheSAILS Development Regatta.

Registrations from individual female Sailing Academy graduates are welcome. You will be formed into a crew of five, including an instructor skipper, to sail a Force 24 in this 'around the buoys' sailing event to learn about racing.

This event is aimed at women who have been involved in at least one 4-week learn to sail course with the Academy - whether it be the Women's Sailing program or a Start Crewing or Start Helming course. Possible similar experience may have been gained from completing several Friday Twilight Experiences, weekend Discover Sailing Experiences or private lessons.
