Today we kicked off the RISE project at Newcastle University with the first workshop of the series, led by yours truly 😍 .

In “Leadership Before Confidence” we used self-efficacy and self-advocacy frameworks to practice leadership behaviours and learn what it means to be a leader as a woman in academia.

The energy in the room was amazing, lots of sharing and stories and so much mutual support.

One message: don’t wait to feel ready, choose to be ready!

Thank you Sara Ganassin, Ashleigh R. and the Catherine Cookson Foundation for the organisation and funding.

Next Saturday I will be delivering an in person workshop here in Swansea on “Achieving career goals with confidence” 🥰

It’s crazy to think that in the 5 years of my coaching business I have delivered workshops and talks for people all over the world but never in my own local community. I am honestly so happy that I will now have this opportunity!

Thank you to the lovely Zoe and Amina of Creative Productions for involving me. Can’t wait to share this day with you and with other incredible facilitators and practitioners ❤️

And here we are to the end of the week, which means here is the last question from me ☺️

“What’s another way to look at this?”

Perspective is the key to wisdom and self-mastery. Developing the ability to look at different points of views, solutions, ideas (even the ones you don’t like!) will help you grow as a person and as a leader.

Hope you enjoyed this mini series and you know where to find me if you want more 🙌

(CAPSLOCK learners, I am looking at you! Get your sessions in the calendar early 😁)

"If I gave you a pill which transformed you immediately into the best version of yourself...what is the first thing you would do?"

Since you all seemed to enjoy yesterday's question, here's another spicy one for you 😁

I can hear the wheels turning 😏

"If there were a glitch in the universe—and on LinkedIn 😁 —that guaranteed you’d get the first job you applied for (and you’d be obligated to take it), which job would you choose?"

Today's coaching question is a tricky one ;)

I asked it just yesterday in a session with a learner and it opened up a really interesting discussion.

Here it goes:

"Which questions are remaining unanswered?"

Asking ourselves the right questions, leads us to the right answers!

Get your trusted pen and paper, think about a decision you need to make, or something you have been dwelling about and ask yourself this question.

What comes up? :)

What’s stopping you?

For sure, one of my favourite coaching questions and one that I suggest you start posing to yourself whenever you feel stuck.

This question allows you to go deeper in exploring any real or perceived blockers that are standing in the way of your goals and desires.

So...what’s stopping you? Get pen and paper and start listing ;)

I will be posting a coaching question a day this week, so tune in for more tomorrow :)

"I don't like my job anymore"

I got this message from a friend recently and that inspired me to write this post. Of course, I have been there too in the past, and of course, this is a topic that comes up a lot with my clients, even with those who have built successful careers.

If you are thinking along the same lines, here are some reflection points:

1) What is it that you don't like exactly about your job?

Is it a particular task? Is it the company culture? Is it the sector? The pay? The lifestyle?
Be as specific as you can in pinpointing what you are not enjoying.

2) What are some things that you like instead?

Again, be specific and consider also those things that you think you shouldn't like...but you do! ;)

3) What are your options?

Really think about this one as objectively as you can. Your brain will tell you there are very black-and-white options or really scary ones... it's what brains do :D but that's not necessarily true, so...

..4) Are you sure? What other options are there?

Take inspiration from people you admire and respect, think creatively and try to leave any fear, self-doubt, assumption out of the door. We are just brainstorming at this stage and you are not committing to anything.

Also, consider that doing nothing is also always an option. What would that mean, in your case?

5) Choose a couple of options that make sense and start exploring them actively. How does this option make you feel? What consequences could there be? What if it all worked out? How would things be different a year from now?

6) Surround yourself with people who are going to encourage you and support you on this journey (like a coach, for example :D ).

-------------------------------------
Hope these few tips are a good starting point for your reflection. If you feel you'd like my professional help with this, feel free to reach out and book some time together!

At the centre of my vision board, I have placed a picture of a river, flowing amongst rocks.

This is because, as one of my favourite authors says, life is like a river and it will continue to flow no matter what you do. Everything changes continuously and being a rock in the water, trying to stay still and oppose to that flow, brings only stress and suffering.

I aim to be more like a river and less like a rock, to adapt to what comes enthusiastically. I aim to recognise when I am being too anchored to my own flawed thinking, limited views, and biased convictions. I aim to be open to new experiences and possibilities.

Every time I have found myself behaving like a rock it has only brought frustration. Letting go, adapting, and welcoming change have been instead liberating and have brought surprises along the way.

In which areas of your life are you behaving like a rock?
Would it be more helpful instead to let go and accept what you cannot change, flow towards new (potentially uncomfortable) things with trust?
What is making you want to hold on?
