I always get asked if we’re going to get Ollie into boxing… As a sport - HELL NO, but for cross training - ABSOLUTELY! 🥊💯

What boxing does for teenagers AND sport:
🥊 Helps build a strong core. (Build the core, build a wall 😉)
🥊 Builds their upper body which is often under used in some sports, but is what helps drive the whole body especially when explosive movements like sprinting are required.
🥊 Builds explosive power
🥊 Sharpens their reflexes & hand / eye coordination.
🥊 Builds confidence
🥊 gives them another way to work on their fitness without hammering the same body parts over and over.
🥊 It’s a great stress relief for hormonal teenagers (& anyone really)
🥊 It humbles them while building character 👏👏👏

Ollie will often jump in on my “Boxing Fitness” classes to get an extra session in. If you’ve got a child from around 12 years & up, get them to give it a go too 🙌

We have 10 classes remaining this week, up until Saturday for you to get into, so get you week sorted!

📣 Our Kids Boxing Classes are back NEXT WEEK!

Why boxing for your child?

🥊 strengthens core & upperbody which helps with all sports especially when wanting to improve drive / power & stability.

Here are all the details for the Term 2 classes:
⭐️This term will run for 8 weeks
⭐️First session back is Tuesday 28th April, 2026
⭐️Last session for the term will be Tuesday 16th June, 2026.
⭐️Session Time is 4.15pm - 5pm
⭐️Cost is $135 per child or $120 each for 2 or more kids) or if you would prefer to pay casually, it will be $18 per class.
⭐️If needed, Glove hire is $3 per class OR you can purchase a pair our kids gloves for a discounted price $45.

Ollie’s training got cancelled so he came along to my “Boxing Fitness” class instead.

The end result was a session that included people from backgrounds in a cross section of sporting codes:
Matt (AFL), Pat (Rugby Union), Ollie (Football / Soccer), Lincoln (Rugby League), & Tom (Basketball). It was fun group to train! 👏👏👏🙌

“You can’t go comparing a 10 year old girl to a 13 year old boy!”

The s**t I’ve heard & argued about over the last almost 30 years of being involved in boxing is mind blowing! This clip here shows strengths and weakness of both parties which is totally fine. You both don’t have to be the same - just like not all men have the same strengths. We are ALL different! Some people are physically stronger, some people are mentally tougher, some have learnt how to control their anger better, some show respect more, some people celebrate others better than most. It’s about working together for the greater good! Being better humans.

Unless you have past traumas or feel uncomfortable training with the opposite s*x I think it’s super important to train together as it teaches mutual respect for one another and we still need to build on that in 2026!

When you train together, you get to see what you’re all capable of and celebrate each others strengths and physical / mental health gains. You get to learn form more diverse people which can only be a win!

Tonight was pretty awesome… I had a reunion with Kyle, who used to come to the gym when I first opened it at the Showground. He was between the ages of about 14-16 years old back then so about 21 years ago 😱.

This photo is me explaining how much smaller he was all those years ago. Mind blowing!!! 🤯😰

He has the same big smile now as he had back then but punches a lot harder! 😅😆

Arty gave him the “fight name” “chips” and his mate was “coke” (maybe “beverage” before that) “Because you can’t have one without the other” 🤣

Holy s**t, it’s moments like these that make all the memories come flooding back! As cliche’d as it is… Time really does bloody fly! 😬
