HIA APPRENTICES MATCH OF THE ROUND
After several weeks of wet weather disruptions and washouts across the competition, we’re excited to finally be back playing footy this weekend.
Round 7’s HIA Apprentices Match of the Round sees the Swansea-Caves Swans take on the Stroud Raiders in what promises to be a cracking contest.
Both teams will be eager to make the most of improved conditions and get their seasons back on track, with valuable competition points up for grabs as we move into the middle stages of the year.
Whether you’re cheering from the sidelines or tuning in from home, expect plenty of passion, physicality and community rugby league at its best.

URGENT MEDIA STATEMENT | ROUND 6 WASHED OUT
Due to the significant rainfall and severe weather experienced across the Newcastle and Hunter regions over the past fortnight, Newcastle and Hunter Rugby League has made the difficult decision to officially wash out all Round 6 fixtures scheduled for this weekend.
This decision follows widespread field closures by local councils and ongoing wet weather, which has heavily impacted playing surfaces across the region.
The Newcastle and Hunter region has recorded significant rainfall over the past two weeks, with many areas exceeding 100mm. Severe downpours have contributed to flash flooding, saturated grounds, and continued weather warnings across the region.
For player safety and the preservation of grounds, the League has determined that postponing this weekend’s fixtures is necessary to ensure fairness across all competitions and protect the long-term condition of playing surfaces.
Round 6 fixtures will now be moved to the designated washout weekend scheduled for 3-6 July. Any matches previously impacted by last week’s washout will be rescheduled to alternate available weekends throughout the season.
Newcastle and Hunter Rugby League will continue to work closely with clubs, councils, and competition stakeholders to minimise disruption and ensure no clubs or teams are unfairly disadvantaged by the ongoing weather impacts.
We thank all clubs, volunteers, players, officials, and supporters for their understanding and cooperation during what has been an extremely challenging period of weather for our region.
WASHOUTS‼️‼️🚨🚨Hamilton, Kotara, West Maitland & the remaining Waratah Mayfield games have also been washed out and will be played in the designated washout round 3-5 July. ‼️‼️🚨🚨
