🌧️⚽ WET WEATHER UPDATE ⚽🌧️

The rain has had the final say tonight, Devils… and it's not good news 😩

All home games tonight and tomorrow have been POSTPONED due to wet weather conditions. Player safety is always our number one priority — and right now, the only team enjoying Wallsend Park is the local duck population… and they didn't even register with Newcastle Football 🦆😂

We know it's frustrating — trust us, we feel it too. But we'll be back out there the moment conditions allow ❤️

In the meantime, here's what you need to know:
📱 Squadi is your source of truth — if your game hasn't been cancelled in Squadi, it's ON (ALL HOME GAMES SHOULD SHOW POSTPONED ALREADY)
📘 Keep an eye on this page for all wet weather updates
👟 Stay in touch with your coach for any team specific info

And hey… at least you don't have to wash the kit this weekend 😄

Stay dry, Red Devil Family — we'll see you on the other side of this weather ☀️⚽

❤️ Thank you for your understanding and continued support of grassroots football in Wallsend!

🌧️🎵 RAIN SONG SEASON IS OFFICIALLY OPEN 🎵🌧️

The forecast has spoken. The puddles are in full force.
And in true WJFC fashion - we've reached for the microphone 🎤
We're keeping it simple this time… nursery rhyme style 😂🎵

Wallsend had a little field
Little field, little field
Wallsend had a little field
Its grass was green and bright

And everywhere the rain would fall
Rain would fall, rain would fall
And everywhere the rain would fall
The puddles won the fight!

The council came to close it down
Close it down, close it down
The council came to close it down
And said "don't train tonight!"

So check your Squadi every day
Every day, every day
Check your Squadi every day
To know if games are right!

And when the sun comes out to play
out to play, out to play
When the sun comes out to play
We'll play with all our might! ⚽🎵

Stay dry Red Devil Family 💪🔴 Check Squadi for all game updates 📱 and keep an eye on this page for any field announcements 📘

🌧️⚽ AND SO IT BEGINS… AGAIN ⚽🌧️

Just when we thought the Soggy Saga had packed its bags and moved on… the Newcastle weather has called us and said "did you miss me?" 😩🌧️

The forecast is looking, shall we say… ambitious. Heavy and consistent rain is on the cards for the next 4-5 days, which means our old friends — the puddles — may be making a dramatic comeback tour 💧💧💧

We'll be keeping a very close eye on conditions at Wallsend Park and will keep you updated every step of the way.

As always:
📱 Check Squadi first — if your game hasn't been cancelled in Squadi, it's ON
📘 Keep an eye on this page for any updates
👟 And maybe… dig the gumboots back out from wherever you buried them after last time 😄

And for those of you who've been here before… you know what extended rain means 👀🎵

That's right — the WJFC rain songs will be making their return. We know you love them. We know you sing along. And we know at least one of you has requested a greatest hits compilation 😄🎤

Hang in there, Red Devil Family 💪🔴

Yours in football and fluctuating forecasts,

❤️🙌 NATIONAL VOLUNTEER WEEK — 18-24 MAY 🙌❤️

This week we take a moment to shine a light on the people who make Wallsend Football Club what it is — our incredible volunteers ✨

The nets going up before you arrive, the canteen firing on game day, the coaching, the washing, the emails, the treasurer spreadsheets at midnight, the never-ending replies to "are the fields open today?" 🤣

None of it happens by magic. It happens because of the mums, dads, grandparents, friends and community legends who give their time — week in, week out — because they love this club and the kids in it ❤️

To every single volunteer — past and present — from the bottom of our red & white hearts… THANK YOU.
You are the heartbeat of the Wallsend Red Devils 🔴🤍

Now, we'll be honest — like many growing clubs, volunteers have been hard to come by in previous years. As WJFC has grown from 9 teams to 12, from 124 players to 150, and from 28 junior participants to 52 in the 2026 season— the demand on our volunteer base has grown right along with it 📈

But this year? This year we've built something special 🙌

We have a stable, reliable and absolutely brilliant volunteer team behind this club — and the difference it makes is felt every single weekend at Wallsend Park. The club is stronger than ever and kicking all kinds of goals… pun absolutely intended ⚽😄

And while we're at it… 🥁🥁🥁

Did you know Wallsend Football Club took home not ONE but TWO Volunteer of the Year awards for 2025?! 🏆🏆

🏆 Chris Gallagher — PYL Volunteer of the Year, Northern NSW Football
🏆 Ashlee Bain — Volunteer of the Year, Newcastle Football

Two legends. Two awards. One incredible club. We couldn't be prouder! 🙌🔴

If you've ever thought about getting involved and giving back to grassroots football — now is the perfect time. Every pair of hands makes a difference, and we'd love to have you join the Red Devil Family 💪

⚽☀️ MID-WEEK VIBES FROM THE RED DEVIL FAMILY ☀️⚽

After what felt like a lifetime of checking the forecast every 15 minutes yesterday for field closures, Newcastle is serving us actual blue skies today — and we are HERE for it 😎🙌

But before we get too excited about dry weather… let's take a moment to appreciate those who didn't wait for it.

Last night, our Sunday AAW B Grade braved the wet, the cold and the rain — and came home with a 1-0 win over Cooks Hill 💪🔴

Can't say there wasn't any sulking but there were no excuses, no waiting for perfect conditions. Just boots on the soggy ground and three points in the bag. Absolute legends, the lot of them ❤️

Now — with the sun making a return, here's what's coming up this weekend at Wallsend Park:
📅 Friday Night
⚽ O35 #1 - Kick off 6:30pm
⚽ O35 #2 - Kick off 8:00pm
Come down and cheer on the red & white! ☀️

🌧️ As always, if the weather has other ideas — any wet weather updates will be communicated through your coaches and right here on Facebook, so keep an eye out and stay connected!

📱 And remember — Squadi is your source of truth for all games. If your game hasn't been postponed in Squadi, it's ON. When in doubt, check the app first! 👍

See you at the fields, legends! ⚽❤️

⚽🌧️ A rare washout-free weekend for WJFC 🌧️⚽

The only teams in action last weekend (16/05) were our U5–U11 sides, with all other competitions enjoying a surprise rest weekend thanks to having no washed out games needing to be caught up 👏

After the amount of rain around lately, we’ll absolutely take that as a win 😅☔

It was fantastic to still see our youngest Devils out there having fun, learning new skills and braving the conditions ❤️🤍

Meanwhile the older age groups got to enjoy:
😴 A sleep in
🧺 A weekend without muddy washing
🛋️ And a temporary break from checking the weather radar every 15 minutes 😂

Hopefully the weather gods continue to be kind to us as the season rolls on 🤞⚽

☕🍟 WJFC CANTEEN IS OPEN ON GAME DAYS 🍫🐶

Our canteen will be open on game days this season with a little something for everyone ❤️🤍

☕ Coffees for the mums (and dads needing caffeine after early kick-offs 😅)
🌭 Hot food fresh off the grill
🍫 A sugar hit for the kiddos post-game
🐶 And even pup cups for our four-legged supporters

Whether you’re after a bacon & egg sandwich before kick-off, hot chips on a cold morning, or just somewhere to hide from the sideline stress with a coffee… we’ve got you covered 👏

A huge thank you to all of our volunteers helping keep the canteen running throughout the season ❤️🤍

See you at the fields this weekend ⚽

🌧️🎶 FIRST RAIN SONG OF THE SEASON 🎶🌧️

Well… it appears the weather gods have remembered football season is back 😅

With plenty of rain forecast this week, there’s every chance our favourite tradition returns…
🚨 FIELD CLOSURES 🚨

So in preparation, here is WJFC’s first rain song of the season 🎤😂

🎶Hello puddles my old friend…
Looks like training’s off again…
Council saw the fields were soggy,
Now Bill Elliott’s looking boggy…
And the sound of football training,
Still remains within the sound of silence…🎶

(yes we know we’re back at Wallsend Oval now… but the puddle trauma from last season still lives on 😂)

Keep an eye on facebook and in touch with the team coach for any updates

⚽️ ROUND 4 WRAP-UP ⚽️

We’re not saying we let the other teams win… but the results suggest our players may have been a little too busy thinking about breakfast in bed, flowers and free coffees for Mum ❤️🤍☕

💪 Thankfully our Friday AAW side decided someone had to carry the club this week, coming away with a strong 3–1 win against Cooks Hill 👏🔥

There were still plenty of positives across the weekend:
⚽ Tight contests
⚽ Great effort from all teams
⚽ Juniors continuing to build and improve each week
⚽ Another huge weekend of football for the red & white

Happy Mother’s Day to all the mums, carers and mother figures in our WJFC family — we hope you had a fantastic weekend ❤️🤍

08/05/2026

🌸☕ MOTHER’S DAY AT WJFC ☕🌸

Tomorrow is our first home game day for our U5–U11 teams at Wallsend Oval ❤️🤍⚽

To help celebrate Mother’s Day weekend, we’ll be shouting all mums a FREE coffee from the canteen ☕👏

There’s just one catch… 😄

Your child needs to come up with you and tell us why they love their mum the most 💕

We’re expecting:
🥹 some wholesome answers
😂 some funny answers
🤔 and probably a few kids putting Mum on the spot

We can’t wait to hear them all!

Thanks to all the amazing mums who spend their weekends supporting grassroots sport — washing kits, doing the early mornings, sideline cheering and everything in between ❤️🤍

See you all tomorrow at Wallsend Oval! ⚽
