Newport SLSC's Pool to Peak Ocean Swims

We know how ocean swimmers just keep going even as you get older. That’s why our Pool to Peak team has decided to introduce an over 70 years of age category for each swim. It’s not about age, but ocean swimming fitness, so keep swimming those laps. We can’t wait to see swimmers of all ages at Newport Beach on Sunday 3 January 2027.

Make this summer your strongest yet with weekly training sessions in both the pool and ocean, building your fitness, confidence, and safety in open water. Supported by our experienced Coaches, a welcoming swim community, and our dedicated water safety partners, including SLSCs, you'll develop the knowledge, skills, and experience to enjoy the ocean more safely.
Along the way, you'll help fund life-changing cancer research and make a meaningful difference beyond the water.

The Newport Pool to Peak Ocean Swims, known as the friendly affordable ocean swims, will be held on Sunday, 3 January 2027. There are great opportunities for companies to effectively promote their products or services. For just $1250 + GST you can become a Pool to Peak Supporter and $5,000 + GST will make you a Major Sponsor of the highly successful, Newport Surf Club.

Imagine your logo on our entry forms, window posters, club website & newsletters, entry forms, street banners and our patrol area. The State government and SLSNSW have over the last few days announced a large increase in drone surveillance of our beaches.

For Newport this means that the coverage that has been in place will continue and will be flying roughly between dawn and dusk on an ongoing basis.

When we have patrols on the beach our lifesavers and lifeguards will have radio access to the operators to be able to get updates and information.

During the months when we don't have lifeguards or lifesavers on the beach the best way to get updates from the drones is to access the SharkSmart web site and to download the SharkSmart app on your phone.

Surf Lifesaving NSW Registration

Looking for a birthday present or for some other occasion? We’ve got the answer. How about a Pool to Peak Ocean Swims, stylish top for just $28 each. Sizes are limited but they are good quality & ideal for summer, casual wear. We have had great feedback about these tops because of their quality.

The tops are available at the club bar, which is open on Friday & Sunday nights. But be quick, limited stock & sizes available. So, pick up your Pool to Peak top & enjoy a drink at the same time! You will love the ambience.

We're spreading the word about a great community event coming up in August — the Special Olympics Dee Why Polar Plunge 2026!

We'd love to see as many of our members involved as possible, so please share this with your friends, families, and anyone who might be keen to take the plunge.

📍 Location: Dee Why Rock Pool

On the day:
• 8:00am – Check-in opens
• 9:00am – Plunge begins
• 10:30am – Event concludes

Please note that only registered participants will be able to plunge on the day, so make sure to register in advance.

It's winter, it's Dee Why, and it's for a wonderful cause. Participants are encouraged to think water and winter when it comes to what they wear — and don't forget a towel and warm clothes to get into afterwards. As for the plunge itself, we'll leave that to your imagination!

Newport was fortunate enough tonight to attend the CanToo awards night. It was wonderful to see one of our pod coaches receive the coach of the year. Well done Sam Wolf.

The Pool to Peak team is always innovating to ensure that our swims are providing the best possible ocean swimming experience. So, recognising that people are participating in sport/exercise well into their senior years, we have created a new swim category for those over 70.
