Gill has been shaping for a couple of years and has generously shared the knowledge she has learnt along the way on her accountย Shaped by She]. The documenting of her shaping education has cracked open a window into the intense learning process that's often shrouded in mystique ๐งโโ๏ธ๐ฎ

Kerry has always created, whether it be drawing, collage, painting or ceramics. Her felted artworks began as an experiment for a womenโs surf film screening in Torquay.
โIt came about as a happy accident. I think the first one took maybe four hours to create and now pieces can take up to 40 hours. So whilst I do love the more complex and detailed artworks I'm now creating, part of me still wants to go back to that simplicity.
I guess that's kind of like surfing, you can go out and get the fanciest board and all the gear, but at the end of the day, you just want the simplicity of paddling out and catching a wave.'

In celebration of weโll be featuring the amazing โก๏ธ Jessi Rebel โก๏ธ] in a series of posts this week. I loved meeting with Jessi - we chatted in her studio and the interview was by far the longest out of everyone I have spoken to - so much to discuss! I can't wait to catch up with her again for more chats next week ๐
Over the past ten years Jessi has been exploring her familyโs history and discovered her Wiradjuri ancestry. โThere was a generation of my family that were able to pass as white so they were able to leave the mission and move to Sydney to find work. So basically if they could deny being Aboriginal, they could get a job. My family didn't identify as being Aboriginal, but my nan knew so she passed it on to my aunty and my mum. My Aunty Lisa has picked it back up, and is trying to put all the pieces back together from what was lost through that period of time. It's been a slow journey, but one thing that I've learned is that it is already part of who I am, it's part of my spirit.โ

Finding time to surf when you've got kids can be more than a little tricky. When Heidi has the occasional full day to herself she surfs allllllll day. โIโm up before the sunrise and then I'm surfing until the moon comes up, I make the most of every second in the water. The waves donโt have to be perfect but I'll still be out there.โ ๐
