Last Race in the Cruising Yacht Club of South Australia Winter Series for Pure Magic, which sadly became abandoned due to lack of wind. We couldn't sail two races in the series, so no hope of doing well in the series. We did have some good races though. Taking a break until summer. Thanks to crew (Ben, Jase & Rory), the Race Management volunteers and other competitors.
Cheers Mike & Lee

Pure Magic gets a 2nd on Div2 AMS and 3rd on PHS last Saturday. Some tricky wind shifts to manage on a Coaster course that we really needed a Code Zero for. Thanks to the Cruising Yacht Club of South Australia volunteers, PM Crew and our other competitors. Only one race left after a long, long, long summer season.

PURE MAGIC - Nice day on the water on Saturday. I got to helm race one as I have a bad shoulder. I think we had a couple of 2nd places for the day. Thank you Pure Magic Crew and Cruising Yacht Club of South Australia officials.
Race 1 14 March 2026 Nice gybe

Pure Magic finished as runner up in Div2 in this year's Adelaide to Port Lincoln Yacht Race & Regatta. Yeah!
We had a great last two races on Thursday and a half decent Megga's race on the Weds. We got to drop our disastrous long race on Tues, giving us two 1st, two 3rd and a 7th (our dodgy first race). We had great trimming, helming, gybing and crew work by the end of the week. Lee and I would like to thank our amazing crew and all the Port Lincoln Yacht Club, the officials, the sponsors and the volunteers that put this top-class event on.
Special thanks to Harry Fisher for some terrific photos (Down Under Sail) (I will buy some Harry)

Sadly we had a couple of gear failures right before the start of the long race to Carcase Rock today. We’ll be back out tomorrow!

Great first Cruising Yacht Club of South Australia HEATLIE Premiers Cup Regatta for Pure Magic.
Day 1 - Race 1 was breezy but we had a good set up with the J3 for uphill and depth & speed with the big kite for downhill. Speeds hit the 15's in knots and the wind was in the low 20's. Race 2 got abandoned due to high winds.
Day 2 - Race 3 had nice light breezes, a bit shifty at times, and a nice triangle first leg. Race 4 had higher breeze (above the limit for our J1) so we made the gamble to switch to the J3 "blade". Good for the first half of the race; bad for the 2nd half as the breeze dropped to 6-7 kts.
We are building our skills and teamwork with the new boat, so really nice to get a win on PHS to encourage us to keep improving. Thanks to the crew (Jase, Ben Murfett & Alex), race committee and the other competitors.

Cruising Yacht Club of South Australia Inshore/Coaster Race 22Nov.
I can’t say I’ve ever had a race in continuous rain before, but now I can!
A very soggy day on the main sheet of our little FarEast28 yesterday.
The wind was all over the place but I think we made the most of the shifts. Down to Grange to the somewhat difficult to see new yellow mark and a shy kite run back up the coast.
We couldn’t hold the kite for too long and we then dropped it to allow us to turn up towards where we guessed the mark was. Thankfully CYCSA2 was there in the gloom. Passing the mark we hardened up for the finish, right behind Ken’s Melges24 Outlier.
Thanks to the crew: Jase and Ben Murfett and special guest Craig Evans.
