Our performance is looking amazing and we can't wait to show it to everyone on Saturday night, here's all the info you need:

Performance Ball:
Saturday 27th June | 7.00-11.45pm
Marrickville Town Hall, 303 Marrickville Road, Marrickville

Swing Patrol Rehearsal | 3:00–3:25pm
A final rehearsal on the day in the hall. This is optional, but it would be great if you can make it to orient yourself and get familiar with the space.

Swing Patrol Final Run-through | 7.30pm
We will meet in the foyer and find a space outside for one final run-through to refresh your memories before the big performance.

Swing Patrol Performance Time | 8.00pm
Aim to be at the hall with plenty of time to find a park. Make sure you have found your partner and are dressed and ready to go at least 10 minutes before our performance time.

Costume ideas:
Ideally wear a combinataion of red/black/white, but don’t stress if you don’t have anything. It would be great if each couple can have at least a touch of red somewhere – eg a red flower, scarf, tie or socks that’s fine.

Whoo hoo... the performance ball is next Saturday June 27th at Marrickville Town Hall. Our routine is looking amazing and here is all the info you need for the big night:

Our final class is this Tuesday 8:00-9:30pm (90 minute class)
We are also teaching an introduction to social dancing 7:00-8:00pm which is a great idea to get you primed to enjoy dancing between performances.

Performance Ball Info:
Saturday 27th June | 7.00-11.45pm
Marrickville Town Hall, 303 Marrickville Road, Marrickville

Swing Patrol Rehearsal | 3:00–3:25pm
A final rehearsal on the day in the hall. This is optional, but it would be great if you can make it to orient yourself and get familiar with the space. Aim to get there early to find a park and ensure you’re on time. We only have a small slot to practice in and need to be on time! The hall is booked for our event all day, so you should be able to leave your costume there and pick it up in the evening if that is easier for you too.

Swing Patrol Performance Time (TBA)
Aim to be at the hall at least by 8:00pm and leave time to find a park. Make sure you have found your partner and are dressed and ready to go at least 10 minutes before our performance time. If you are no-where to be found we will have to start without you!

Costume ideas:
Ideally wear a combinataion of red/black/white, but don’t stress if you don’t have anything. It would be great if each couple can have at least a touch of red somehwere – eg a red flower, scarf, tie or socks that’s fine. Don’t feel like you have to buy something, we can lend you a red flower, scarf or top if that helps.

Amazing work from our Beginners Swing class last night - would you believe that six of these dancers were doing their first Swing class with us? What a bunch of legends!

Next week our Level 1/Beginners class will be a super fun and low-stress class - what we like to call "The Bluffer's Guide to Social Dancing" and it's the perfect primer for anyone keen to try social dancing, or who is coming to the Performance Ball on June 27th.

Don't forget to buy your tickets for the ball here: https://www.trybooking.com/events/landing/1521658

Here's the second half of the routine - Dave is demonstrating the all-in solo jazz and Jo and Andy are demonstrating the Shine section. We are now pretty much finished with the choreography so the last two weeks will be spent on practicing and polishing for the performance at the Performance Ball on Saturday June 27th.

I've attached the latest version of the choreography sheet as well, our song is "Yes Indeed" by Sy Oliver which you can find on Spotify (although we are using a slightly faster version).

We are hoping to extend the next two weeks classes by about 30 mins to give us more time to practice. See you there and get your tickets for the ball!

Our level 1 class were absolutely nailing it at this week's class! We learned a fun sequence including a belt turn (with a fancy extra turn for the leaders) plus an unusual "S-turn" and a rhythm break to finish it all off. Next week we're back with another fun beginners class - no experience or partner required - start anytime!

Here is last week's routine recap - showing the section where our teams split into the the advanced partnered section (demonstrated by Jo and Andy) and the solo jazz section (demonstrated by Derek).

If you haven't already got a partner please make sure you let us know next week and we'll do our best to pair up people.

Please note, we are short on leads for the Level 2 section, so we probably won't be able to find leaders for all the follows who have expressed an interest in this section. But I think we should hopefully be able to find a partner for everyone to do the all-in and solo jazz sections.

So, if you have a friend from outside the class who is a very experienced dancer and thinks they can catch up on the choreography that we've done so far from watching the recap videos, please feel free to get them to learn the choreography and bring them along to class this week!

Routine week #4 - Our routine is really coming along beautifully! In this weeks class we recapped what we've done so far - this clip includes the all-in partnered section for everyone, as well as the solo jazz section.

I'll do a separate post with the Level 2 partnered section which will be done at the same time as the solo jazz section.

If you haven't already got a partner please make sure you let us know next week and we'll do our best to pair up everyone :-)
