INSPIRE Choreography Competition is this Saturday! 🔥

14 young choreographers will be sharing something entirely their own, and we cannot WAIT to see what they’ve created.

INSPIRE is about giving our dancers the space to experiment, be brave, back themselves and cheer each other on. And honestly, watching their ideas come to life is one of the best parts of what we do. 💕

We’re also so lucky to have the amazing Joshua Saunders joining us as our adjudicator, and kicking off the afternoon with an inspiring pre-competition workshop to help our dancers with those last-minute choreography ideas, performance details and technique before they take the floor. 🔥

If there’s a dancer at home who has suddenly decided they REALLY wish they’d entered… we can probably squeeze in one last-minute entry. 😉 Email us today.

The JOY 🥹💕

A few favourites from our professional photo sessions at last year’s end of year concerts. The costumes, the excitement, dancing with your friends and that ‘I did it!’ feeling ✨

And it’s all beginning again! We’re measuring for this year’s concert costumes over the last two weeks of term (fabulous chaos) 🥹

Oh we love these kids 🥹🩷

Our gorgeous Senior Jazz dancers at our 20th Anniversary Legacy Showcase.

Dance classes are obviously about learning to dance (and these kids work HARD), but we love everything else that happens along the way too.

The friendships. The confidence. The ridiculous amount of laughing (ok focus! 👏 😆) Inviting new friends in. Learning to perform together, celebrate each other and take up a bit more space in the world.

And then getting onstage and doing THIS ✨

Does your dancer make up dances everywhere? 🔥

In the lounge room, their bedroom, at the studio, with their friends…

Tomorrow is the LAST DAY to enter our INSPIRE Choreography Competition!

INSPIRE is all about giving our dancers the chance to create something of their own, take it to the stage and share it with their friends in a fun, supportive competition.

And if their dance isn’t completely finished yet — that’s okay!

We’ll start the day with a choreography and technique workshop, giving everyone time to work through their ideas, develop their choreography and get ready to perform.

Then it’s competition time!

✨ Solos, duos & trios
✨ Awards on the day
✨ Black dancewear for all performers
✨ No need to cut music — we’ll fade it at 90 seconds, or dancers can nominate a fade point between 90 seconds and 2 minutes
✨ And an end-of-comp disco to finish the day!

It doesn’t need to be perfect. It just needs to be theirs.

If your dancer has been thinking about entering, this is their sign to give it a go. ❤️

This December, Studio Phoenix Dance celebrates 20 incredible years of dancing, growing and performing together… and we’re marking it with our biggest weekend of the year 💖

150 dancers. 3 shows. 2 days. One very special 20th Anniversary celebration.

From our littlest dancers taking the stage to our graduating seniors, we can’t wait to bring our whole Studio Phoenix Dance community together for a beautiful weekend of dance, memories and celebration at The Union Theatre, Wonthaggi.

🩰 BIG BALLERINAS, LITTLE BALLERINAS 🩰

We love when our senior ballerinas pop in to visit our younger dancers 💕

How special for our little ballerinas to learn from and look up to dancers who have spent years building their technique, artistry and beautiful ballet discipline.

Our senior girls are such gorgeous role models, showing the next generation where all those pliés, pointed toes and hard work can lead 🩰✨

And we can’t wait to see our ballerinas in their beautiful new Studio Phoenix Dance ballet uniforms too, looking every bit the part alongside the senior dancers they look up to ☺️

One day, we’ll see these tiny dancers in pointe shoes being role models to little oohs and aaahhs from tiny dancers too! Pretty cool when you think about it.

Our Intermediate Contemporary Wonthaggi dancers at our 20th Anniversary LEGACY Showcase 🧡

We loved watching these dancers perform together, and we really love seeing young dancers so completely at home doing what they love.

So, young dancers (and dance parents!) this one’s for you...
INSPIRE is our choreography competition for dancers aged 7+
Choose a song you love, create your own choreography and bring it along to share, solo, duo or trio, in any dance style.
We’ll kick off with a workshop together, then settle in for an afternoon of dancing, watching each other’s creations, cheering each other on and having fun with a whole room of people who love dance too. 💃🏻

A chance to create something that’s completely yours, share it with your peers and be part of a really inspiring day of dance!

🏆 Junior 7-9 • Intermediate 10-13 • Senior 14+
