‘My favourite part is when I can fully let go and feel my practice. Let my body guide me to what it needs that day… I have noticed an incredible effect on my creativity, energy and ability to focus post-practice.’
Thank you .ceceliamarie for sharing about your experiences practicing aerial yoga and dance with MS in book Eight Limbs of Aerial Yoga!
This beautiful video shows Cecelia’s aerial dance practice but she also practices more restorative styles of aerial yoga. In my book she shares about the challenges of managing heat, adapting movements around differences between her left and right sides and pain flares - as well as the joy and deeper understanding of her body that this practice gives her!
‘What’s difficult about ‘overdoing it’ with MS is that some days are better than others for no good reason. It can feel frustrating at times when my body has a pseudo flare and I don’t feel like I pushed too hard. It’s times like that, where I’ve learned to meet my body with empathy instead of anger.’
There are many ways we can use the aerial hammock to help make the benefits of yoga more accessible to people working with MS including using it for balance support in standing poses, as a way to ‘bring the floor up’ in seated and laying down positions (like the chair in chair yoga), to give extra feedback to aid proprioception and as a soothing cocoon to facilitate rest and relaxation.
Thank you so much .ceceliamarie I really appreciate you sharing your practice and experiences with me!!
Eight limbs of Aerial Yoga is published by Singing Dragon and is available at all major retailers, or ask for it at your local independent bookstore!

Thank you for a wonderful workshop today!!
🌱 The theme was Ayurveda in practice: Daily rituals for modern life and I’m feeling very inspired to put everything I’ve learned into action. I love how simple and accessible Indu made these self care practices and how she shared the science alongside the tradition - all with lots of love!
🌿 It was so lovely to meet Indu in person after speaking with her on The Flow Artists Podcast. Scroll through for a little sample of that episode and Indu also generously shares many of these practices (especially the yoga nidras) on her website and YouTube.
Thank you Dr Shyam Rangangathan !
I drew from Dr Ranganathan’s work a lot when working on my book Eight Limbs of Aerial Yoga, and I really appreciate how generously he shares his knowledge on the yogaphilosophy.com
My understanding of the yoga sutras was greatly enhanced by his book Yoga - Anticolonial Philosophy, especially since I got to ask follow up questions on The Flow Artists Podcast about it (which is where these clips come from).
His explanation of Īśvara totally shifted my understanding of this concept, to quote Yoga - Anticolonial Philosophy:
‘Rather, in understanding oneself as a person with an interest in Īśvara, we come to perceive what we have in common with others: an interest in Sovereignty. In other words, yoga teaches us that the more committed we are to ourselves as an individual person – the more we value ourselves – the more connected with and concerned for others we are too‘
While we talk a lot about yoga philosophy on the podcast, my role there is more about asking questions, and without being aware of it at the time, hearing from and exploring expert points of view (Dr Ranganathan is a philosophy professor as well as the author of many philosophy books) helped to clarify my own perspective - especially around the Yama and Niyama that I didn’t really ‘get’ in teacher training. Also my teacher training was over 20 years ago so it was definitely time for a fresh look!
You can find out more about his work over at and head to bio for more information on my book Eight Limbs of Aerial Yoga!

Shout out to (aka FeetUp Freya!).
🌱 I really drew from Freya’s wisdom in the Reproductive Health and Inversion sections of my book Eight Limbs of Aerial Yoga!
🌿 Freya is a doctor of chiropractic, a mindfulness, meditation and yoga teacher, mother and fellow inversion lover!
🌺 She is the author of Wonder Full Women. Attune and Bloom. Eat, Move and Meditate With The Seasons. We connected over a great Flow Artists Podcast episode about her book - and then another episode focusing on inversions!
🍃 In my book I drew from my own knowledge, but I also always wanted to back it up with an evidence base, professional expertise or lived experience (if I was talking about something I hadn’t experienced personally) and Freya’s writing and podcast sharing was so helpful along the way!
Freya runs retreats, FeetUp classes, shares her meditations on Insight Timer and short practices on her feed
Thank you for everything you share Freya 💗
