Hereโs how it all works.
World Cup Qualifiers
World Cup qualifiers run in the morning, with each category (U15, U17 and U19) having their own timeslot and different boulders. Each category has 5 unique boulders. The top 6 male and female move to finals. There are an unlimited number of attempts per boulder. Qualifier boulders will have judges.
Scoring is as per the World Climbing scoring system:
Top = 25 pts
Zone = 10 pts
Each unsuccessful attempt = -0.1 pts
World Cup Finals
World Cup Finals begins downstairs around 1pm, starting with U15s. There are four unique World Cup-style boulders per gender, per category. Competitors will have 15 minutes to examine all boulders, then will return to isolation. Competitors will be called out two at a time (one male, one female) for a 4 minutes on the wall, 4 minutes off the wall (often called โ4 on, 4 offโ) rotational-style format. Meaning, theyโll have exactly 4 minutes to figure out, attempt and complete the boulder, and exactly 4 minutes to recover, rest and then move on to the next boulder problem.
Judged live with new World Climbing scoring:
Top = 25 pts
Zone = 10 pts
Each unsuccessful attempt = -0.1 pts
Social Pumpfest
Social Pumpfest attendees have 2 hours from 8:30am to climb as many boulders as they like, with their top 10 boulders counting toward their final score. There are an unlimited number of attempts, but we highly encourage climbers to practice good climbing etiquette and let others have a go if theyโve had a few already. This is a digitally self-scored segment, with final scores and podiums happening around 10am.
Boulders are assigned an incremental number of points, ie.
Boulder 1 -> 5pts
Boulder 2 -> 8 pts
Boulder 3 -> 11pts
and so onโฆ
Flashing a boulder is an extra +1 pt!
