Sometimes the smallest adjustments create the biggest changes in Your Pilates practice.

A movement can look almost identical from the outside, but one small change in positioning can completely change which muscles are doing the work. 💪

That’s why Pilates is about so much more than simply completing a movement. It’s about understanding how You move.

✨ Bridging

Avoid arching through Your lower back when in the Bridging position. Keep shoulders, hips and knees in line - rib cage soft, no flaring.

✨ Ab Curls

Avoid leading with Your chin and neck. Initaite the movement with the abdominals - draw the ribs to hips and lifting with the chest. No momentum.

✨ Lunges

Maintain good knee alignment - keep the shin bone vertical to the floor - knee stays over ankle.

By learning to listen to Your body, You can start to recognise the small details that make a movement feel more effective and safe.

Because better movement starts with better awareness🤎

The same movement. Three different ways to move🤎

One of the things we love most about Pilates is that the principles stay the same - whether You’re on the Reformer, at the Barre or on the Mat.

While the environment changes, the focus doesn’t: control, alignment, strength, stability & intentional movement.

✨ Reformer uses the carriage and springs to either support or challenge Your movement, helping you build strength, coordination & control.

✨ Barre uses props and controlled, high-repetition movements to build muscular endurance, strength & stability.

✨ Mat uses Your body weight alongside props to challenge strength, stability & deep core connection.

The same exercise can feel completely different depending on where You perform it - and that’s what makes every class unique.

There isn’t one “best” way to practise Pilates. Each class offers something different and together they help you move better, feel stronger and build a more connected body.

Send this to your Pilates bestie immediately… because this is 100% the two of YOU 👯‍♀️🤎

Let’s be honest... Pilates is just better when Your favourite person is on the Reformer next to You.

The one who keeps You accountable when cancelling class sounds tempting.

The one who gives You *that look* halfway through pulsing. 😂

The one who celebrates every little win right alongside You.

At Addicted to Pilates, we’ve watched so many friendships grow in our Studio - and that’s one of our favourite parts of what we do🤎

So... who’s the person You refuse to do Pilates without?

Tag Your Pilates bestie below, send them this reel and let them know You’re booking Your next class together Xx

Not every Pilates progression is about adding or reducing spring tension. Sometimes, it’s about removing stability 🤎

Take Short Spine, for example. With just a few small adjustments, You can challenge Your stability, coordination and core strength in completely different ways.

BEGINNER
Two feet in straps with your hands resting on the carriage. This variation provides a stable foundation, allowing You to focus on spinal articulation, control and moving with confidence.

INTERMEDIATE
Two feet in straps with Your arms reaching towards the ceiling. By removing the support of Your hands, Your core has to work much harder to keep You stable and in control throughout the movement.

ADVANCED
One foot in the strap with Your arms reaching towards the ceiling. This variation challenges unilateral strength, balance, coordination and deep core control, requiring even greater precision from start to finish.

That’s the beauty of Pilates🤎

Progress isn’t measured by how quickly You move to the next variation - it’s measured by how well You move through the one You’re in.

Whether You’re just beginning Your Reformer Pilates journey or exploring more advanced variations, every level has something to teach You.

Which variation would You try? Let us know in the comments below 👇

Your core isn’t the only thing that deserves attention in Pilates… Your back muscles play a huge role too. 🤎

A strong back supports so much of the way you move through everyday life - from maintaining good posture at your desk, carrying shopping bags, lifting and reaching, to simply feeling more supported and confident in your movement.

Some of our favourite Reformer exercises for building back strength include:

✨ Rows
✨ Rows with Rotation
✨ Open the Window
✨ Shoulder Press

Building a stronger back isn’t just about how you look - it’s about creating a body that feels supported, resilient, and ready for everything your day asks of it.

So next time you’re on the Reformer, don’t forget to give your back the attention it deserves. 🤎

Save this for your next Reformer Pilates class. Xx
