After four memorable seasons, Sean Richardson’s time as Women’s Premier League coach at Connells Point Rovers has come to an end 🩵🖤

Sean took over in 2022 with the team in a transition phase and requiring a rebuild. In his first season, the team finished 5th, narrowly missing the top four, an achievement that laid the foundation for what followed.

The next two seasons saw the team establish itself as one of the competition’s dominant sides, finishing 1st consecutive seasons and claiming back-to-back Minor Premierships in 2023 and 2024, including winning the double in 2024.

Originally intending to coach for three years, Sean returned for one final season this year. The squad finished 2nd, reached another Grand Final but unfortunately lost, falling short of the perfect ending but completing another season to be proud of.

During his time with the team, Sean finished with a near 70% win rate in the league. Alongside Banksia Tigers, the team were also one of the few St George women’s sides to regularly represent the association in both the State Cup and Sapphire Cup.

Sean reflected:
“It’s been an incredible journey with so many memories. Winning the penalty shootout in 2024 to complete the double will forever hold a special place for me. I’d like to thank Lance and the club for all the support they’ve given me over the years. None of this could have been accomplished without them. To the players who stood with me over the years and shared in the success, thank you for everything. Our time together won’t be forgotten”.

Sean will now take some time away from coaching, a well deserved break.

🏆Connells Point Rovers AB1 are AAB Champions🏆

Congratulations to our AAB1’s who defeated our Connells Point Rovers AAB2’s in the grand final yesterday. It’s not often you get a in-club derby and what a final it was. The game finished 2-2 before AAB1’s sealed the final 3-1 on penalties.

Congratulations to both teams, it’s great to see both of our teams finishing 1st and 2nd‼️🖤🩵.
