Lets talk about the Sydney Sweeney Ad. Again.
I think we should take issue with what the ad was about - gambling - a truly abhorrent thing that destroys persons, families and communities.
Domestic violence is goes hand-in-hand with gambling and the uproar should be with THIS.
My favourite influencer, Louis Davis refused a deal with a gambling platform in NZ. I respect him THAT much more because of it. I think he is by far the most wholesome content creator I follow and he restores my faith in humanity by the way he lives and loves his family.
Now, in rebuttal to Sydney, the uproar is in sexualising sports. This is nothing new. Sports has had a sexual edge to it for all of time.
Women are sexual beings. We don’t need to become sexless to be taken seriously as athletes.
We can be sexy.
We can also be extraordinarily fu***ng capable.
And watching women respond to this ad by flooding my feed with what their bodies can DO has been magnificent👌👌
Women lifting obscene amounts of weight.
Women running, fighting, swimming, riding, climbing, throwing, dancing.
Women competing at the highest level.
Women competing against nobody but themselves.
Women pursuing an athletic ambition.
Women pursuing their health.
Women pursuing strength.
Women pursuing themselves.
These are ALL Women in Sports!
My FYP right now is pure, unadulterated fire, love and passion. Women being women. And it is inspiring, uplifting, cathartic and fu***ng beautiful.
Perhaps the greatest faux pas of this entire campaign was inadvertently opening the floodgates for women to remind everyone what a woman in sport actually looks like.
She looks like whatever the f**k she wants.
Sexy, sweaty, glamorous, exhausted, muscular, soft, powerful, terrified, confident, beginner, elite.
Her body can be sexual.
But, look at what else it can do🔥🔥
Also, for the record, we will not be referring to women in sports as females. We are women, not a subsect of the human species. Enough of this bu****it redpill language and agenda.
