Congratulations to our very own Stu Horner who has just captained the Box Hill Hawks to the 2026 VFL Premiership.

Now in his 11th season at the club, Stu has showed the most incredible resilience and self belief over his football journey. In his first 4 seasons at the club, he managed 4 senior games, having to toil away in what was then the Development League.

Coming off the back of the Covid period, he really began to build his career as the Hawthorn alliance with Box Hill continued to go from strength to strength. In recent years he’s become one of the most experienced on the list, as the club continued to draft and play young AFL listed players, those youngsters leaning on being guided by Stu, culminating with him being appointed as club captain.

A huge congratulations to Stu, and of course to Liz & Geoff and all the family. What a great reward for the most incredible persistence. Enjoy the celebrations mate, if ever anyone deserved it it’s you !!
