Today didn’t end the way Tammsin and her Narellan Sparrows team had hoped, but what a year it has been.

The Sparrows led at quarter time and half time before the opposition got on top in the second half. The Sparrows fought all the way, closing the deficit to just one point part way through the final quarter, but unfortunately couldn’t get over the line.

Tammsin, you have worked your backside off this year. The running, strength and conditioning, and just as importantly, the work you’ve put into your mindset have all been huge.

Regardless of the result today, we are incredibly proud of you. Congratulations on a great year and a Grand Final appearance. You’ve earned every bit of it.

Now we use today’s loss as fuel.

Another DSL athlete stepping up into a new role.

Meet Em — our newest addition to the DSL coaching team.

Em is a qualified Junior AFL Coach with experience working with school-aged kids through holiday programs and AFL coaching. She’s also got her sights set on a future in physiotherapy.

As a DSL athlete herself, Em loves the challenge of developing her skills each week, working through drills that are challenging but still fun, and training alongside her friends and Coach Mitch.

Now she gets to help give that experience back.

“I like coaching at DSL because I get to pass on things I’ve learned from Mitch onto younger kids and help them develop their AFL skills and fitness the way I’ve had help developing mine.”

We’re excited to have Em stepping up, sharing her knowledge and helping the next generation of DSL athletes develop.

Since Coach Mitch’s injury, you may have noticed a few things start to shift around DSL.

Coach Mitch has recruited some helpers… so it’s time for a proper introduction.

Meet Skyla.

You may already know Skyla as a player, DSL athlete and umpire. But now, she’s officially stepped into another role — DSL Coach.

Skyla is a qualified AFL Junior Coach and a Women’s Prems player in Sydney football. As she finishes her HSC this year, she’s also got her sights set on a future in the high-performance sporting world.

Her dedication to her sport, commitment to improving her own skills and growing knowledge has seen her take the reins of her own group of DSL athletes, working closely under the guidance of Coach Mitch.

We’re incredibly excited to have Skyla stepping up and sharing her knowledge with our athletes.

We know she’ll bring plenty of energy, knowledge and passion to the sessions — and we can’t wait for you all to see it.

Our Monday football sessions are gaining some serious momentum, and this week we had two groups hitting the ground running.

Our younger athletes were back working together, building their skills, learning the game and developing alongside each other.

At the other end of the group, we had our Grand Finalists putting in the work, getting prepared and primed for the biggest games of their seasons this weekend.

Two different stages. Two different focuses. One DSL family.

Our Monday crew start the week off right, and we love seeing the energy, effort and development across every session.

We can’t wait to see you all in action this weekend.

The Camden Cats Juniors Under 13s Youth Girls put on a dazzling display to book their place in this weekend’s Grand Final — and in that side, we have four dynamite DSL athletes.

Rachael held the fort strongly in the backline before getting her opportunity up forward and creating chances on goal.

Imogen brought massive intensity and determination through the middle, driving the attack while working just as hard to shut down the opposition.

Charlotte showed her skills on the outside, breaking the game open and changing the pace to give Camden the advantage.

Lacey brought the physicality in the ruck and around the ground — and we were absolutely thrilled to be there to see her slot her first goal of the season… in a Preliminary Final!

Massive effort, girls. You’ve all played your part in getting your team to the big one.

Introducing Camden Cats youngsters Poppi and Ava, who have officially joined the DSL family!

These two energetic young footballers have already been getting stuck into their sessions with Coach Skyla, getting their boots on the ground and working hard on their skill development.

Both girls are making some great early steps, and we’re excited to watch their confidence, skills and football ability continue to grow.
