🏏 BIG NEWS FOR THE LIONS 🦁

Palm Beach Currumbin Cricket Club is proud to announce Troy Newton as our Head Coach for the 2026/27 season.

A true product of our junior system, Troy’s journey began right here at PBC, where he went on to dominate the competition throughout the 90’s and 2000’s. His impact with the ball was unmatched — cementing his place as the leading wicket-taker in the competition’s history.

Troy’s cricketing journey didn’t stop when he moved to Mackay 15 years ago. His love and devotion to the sport continued where he both played and coached in club and representative teams. Now, he returns home to lead the next generation.

This appointment is more than just a coaching role — it’s a full-circle moment for our club. With deep roots, proven success, and a passion for developing players, Troy is the perfect person to drive our standards and shape our future.

Welcome home, Newts.

🏆6th Grade Grand Final 🏆

Our mighty sixth graders took on Coomera at Mick Ross Oval (formerly known as Oxenford Oval #2) yesterday in a battle for premiership glory.

Bowling first, the crocs innings had just about everything - quick top order wickets, a croc captain dummy spit for the ages, a lower order fightback and a Jake Morgan masterclass. Ultimately, Coomera finished the innings on a tidy 174.

Raging fro recent diesel price hikes, local enthusiastic trucker Daniel Robards set about taking to total down in a hurry as he smoked 41 off 21 - an innings that draw comparisons to WG Grace both on beard stature and elegancy.

From the point Robards/Bradman/Lara got out, our boys struggled to get any momentum through their innings - falling to 9/128. As number 11 bat Mick Ross entered the crease with 47 runs to get, spectators could have been forgiven for packing their eskies and heading home as was suggested by the me in blue. However………what would happen next will go down in club folklore for centuries. Mick went on to club 47* off just 12 balls - hitting a six over square leg to erupt the celebrations of the away bay and bring the trophy back down the M1!!

Mick was rightly adjudged man of the match for his astonishing performance with the bat that went with his 2 wickets! Mick has been a great club man for over a decade - playing with his 2 sons in 6th grade for the last few seasons and now has 13 Coomera players who will also forever refer to him as Daddy.

Well done gents 👏 👏 👏

The live stream video may have been deleted, but the Mick Ross statue will be permanent!

🏆 Premiers 🏆

Our might junior division 4 team capped off an incredible season this morning taking out the premiership chasing down Coomera’s 138 with 7 overs to go.

Palm Beach Captain Zach Dee was adjudged player of the match for his 36* and one wicket. This was on top of an incredible season for Zach - amassing 647 runs across the year.

Big thanks to Coomera for an excellent game played in great spirits.
