Day 3 and Day 4 of the Arafura MDK Cho Dan Shim Sa.

Day 3 was In Neh (Endurance) starting with 4km run, 100 push ups, sit ups and leg raises, followed by all partner work. Night 3 finished with Dae Ryun Sparring with all gups and Dan/Do Dan Ja for continuous endurance sparring. Thank you to the Region 1 Gups and Seniors for assisting and supporting the candidates.

Day 4 completed the Arafura Shim Sa by repeating any requirements from the week and demonstrating their humility and efforts to take feedback and adjust their body and mind as a Cho Shim, beginner mind.

The Arafura MDK grading panel of Fong SBN, Hardwick BSBN and Fong JKN have endorsed the candidates to continue their Shim Sa and handed them through to the Region 1 testing board for their final assessment this coming Saturday.

All are welcome to watch the candidates in the R1 Dan Shim Sa which will be held Sat 27th, 9-11am at Gray Community Hall.

We had the privilege to present the Master Peter Tibbits 'Moo Do Shim Gung' memorial award to Mr Louis Glassie, a 1st gup who continued to strive to better both body and spirit, in true reflection of the lessons and direction of the art Master Tibbits believed in.

We were very honoured to be joined by Mrs Pam Tibbits to see the students who have followed, and the presence and influence he still holds for us all.

The physical award holds a historic centerpiece as the timber board is a section of the original flooring from Central Dojang in Korea (11-22 Hangang Daero in Yongsan-Gu, Seoul). During renovations in 2018 the original flooring was replaced and 80 pieces were created to be held under guardianship for the connection to the Moo Duk Kwan practitioners that trained on it's surface and the history and energy it holds. Secondly, the base timber is a connection to Region 1 history and Arafura Moo Duk Kwan as the Silky Oak is a section of the flooring from Fong SBN grandparents house on East Point Road. This timber was walked upon by 4 generations of the Territorian family and a connection to the Arafura region of Australia. Together they represent the connection to both local, national, and international Moo Duk Kwan practitioners and the philosophies that Master Tibbits endeared and taught.

Whilst we miss his physical presence and insight, we feel his spirit and the legacy we cherish continues the spirit of the Moo Duk Kwan.

The Master Tibbits memorial award has been rescheduled for Wed 13th May, starting at 6pm at Arafura Moo Duk Kwan (Bakewell Primary School).

Current and past students are all welcome to attend with special guest Mrs. Pam Tibbits to help present this award in honor of the legacy that Master Tibbits gave us.

This award has been presented to a student who has demonstrated the ethos and integrity that Master Tibbits strove for, and who has dedicated themselves over the year to become a better 'Moo Do' student. More details to come on the evening and will be shared with everyone after the event.

Look forward to seeing everyone there!

Good afternoon All,

With the current water situation we assume it will not be resolved by classes tomorrow and therefore all water bubblers will be off and not for use for your health and safety.

Classes will be on as normal but please ensure students bring their own water.

Regards, Fong SBN
