Saints Memory Lane Monday swings back to the final round of the 2018 Eels Cup Qualifiers - Saints vs Katherine High.

Saints got out to an early lead but KH came home with a wet sail in the second half to put the pressure on hard. Tries to Campbell Smith, Phil Vo, Nathan Dixon, Dan Hausler (x2) and Stepheno George were enough to get us the W in the end, 30-20, on home soil. 4 of those players would later be named in our first Team of the Decade.

It’s easy to get caught up in recent success, but did you know that this game was our first ever victory over Katherine High? Hard work pays off. This team would go on to make the Eels Cup GF for the first time in our College’s history which paved the way for all who followed.

Today’s presentation at assembly celebrated a brilliant season of Saints Boys Rugby League, recognising the players whose performances, leadership and service have made it one to remember.

First, we recognised our MVPs from the recent NRL NT 9s Gala Day championship wins:

🏅 Open Boys — Sonny Watkinson
Coach Stephen H***e recognised Sonny’s outstanding efforts throughout the tournament. What a fitting finish to his time in Saints colours as he prepares to graduate from Year 12.

🏅 Under 16s — Tyler Heikkinen
A captain’s performance earned Tyler MVP honours. He crossed for several tries throughout the tournament, including two long-range efforts from beyond halfway.

🏅 Under 14s — Quincy Carter
Quincy’s toughness, sportsmanship and willingness to bring his teammates into the game helped lead the Saints to the championship title.

All recipients were awarded with a team shirt, made by Dynasty Sports and supplied with support from our generous sponsors E.L.V.N.T, Snap Fitness Coolalinga and Mary MacKillop Today. We thank them for their ongoing support of our program.

We then celebrated our 2026 season award winners -

🌟 Rising Star (Junior MVP) — Josh Roberts
Our under-14s captain had an exceptional season, remarkably earning a place on the wing in our under-16s NT Schools Championship-winning team at just 13 years of age.

🏆 Senior MVP — Cooper Moore
Our club vice-captain was instrumental in every senior victory throughout an undefeated season. What a way to finish his Saints career.

🏅 David Graham Medal — Luke Knight
Named in honour of our club founder, this medal recognises what it means to be a Saint: showing up, playing with courage and grit, and refusing to ever give up. Our Year 11 under-16s captain, Luke Knight, set the standard this season and was a deserving recipient.

👏 Club Person of the Year — Alex Liddle
Since joining MacKillop in Year 10, Alex has given so much to our program. Our Year 12 Open Boys captain is always ready to referee, volunteer, mentor younger players or lend a hand wherever needed. He had a pretty fair season on the field, too.

Congratulations to all our award winners and every player who contributed to a brilliant season (which isn’t quite over yet).

We look forward to celebrating our Saints Girls Rugby League awards later this term.

It’s another Taminmin flashback on this Memory Lane Monday. This time, it’s back to 2019 when we hosted them in R1 of the Academy Cup. The visitors took the spoils that day in a close one - 20-16. Is there a better rivalry in NT Schools Rugby League?

It’s back to 2023 for today’s Flashback Friday. Under the tutelage of Coach Butcher, our Girls Rugby Union team marched into the NTRU Grand Final with high expectations after another strong season. Unfortunately, the bounce of the ball went the oppositions way that day, but the Girls team still put in a great effort.

The Schools 7s Competition for u16s Girls starts up in a little under a fortnight’s time. Notes will be out next week.

Saints Memory Lane Monday whips back to the last game of 2018 - Saints vs Taminmin at home in the u16s division.

It‘ll be a repeat next week as we host them again for the final time this season for our u14s and u16s Boys teams.
