Beginnings
Athletics at Melbourne University reaches almost as far back as the mid-nineteenth century. When the campus was established in the 1850s it followed the Oxford and Cambridge model of sports meetings between colleges. A fledgling university athletic club was formed in 1872 in conjunction with the cricket club. Running was kept alive largely by the medical students who had been counselled

AV XCR Rd 2: Jells Park Relays

Round two for AV XCR 2026 was a 6k cross-country relay race around the iconic Jells Park. On a stunning day, our teams shone!

Our premier women came in 4th position, anchored and captained by Zoe Woods who ran her leg in 22:20. Due to an unfortunate medical event, our team was disqualified, and we are seeking a review for this decision. Division 3 came 2rd and division 5 came 5th, meaning we're in the hunt for promotion in both divisions!

Our premier men came 6th, led out from the front by Marlgun Wagner, who broke a post-covid record with a leg time of 18:33. Division 2 came 10th, 3 came 6th, 4 came 5th, 5 came 5th, and 7 came 10th. Finally, our 60+ mens fielded a very strong team and came 5th.

Next round, we're heading out to Bendigo, ready for another battle on the the hills!

Our premier men came 7th, led by Marlgun Wagner who came 9th overall in 14:09 (14:07 net). Division 2, 3, 4, and 5 all came second place, establishing MUAC as the club to beat in 2026 if you're looking for promotion! But good luck if you're in division 7 this year, MUAC came 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 5th, and 13th 👀

Our premier women came 4th, led by Zoe Woods who came 21st in 17:17 (17:16 net), followed very closely by Adoette Vaughan on debut in 17:20. Division 3 came 3rd and division 5 came 1st 🥇
