REVOLUTION OR RE-PACKAGING? Major Changes Proposed for Sri Lanka Cricket! 🇱🇰

The Sri Lanka Cricket Bill 2026 is proposing one of the biggest administrative overhauls in decades. The headline change? A brand-new 14-member Board split evenly between 7 Independent Directors and 7 Elected Directors.

Here is what you need to know about the proposed governance shift:
🎯 Who makes up the 7 Independent Directors?

Legal & Finance: CA Sri Lanka Accountants (15+ yrs) & Attorneys-at-Law (15+ yrs practice).
Cricket Expertise: Former internationals (15+ matches played, retired at least 3 years).
Corporate & Tech: IT & Marketing/Brand experts with high-level qualifications.
General Experts: 2 additional professionals with unblemished track records.

👩 Gender Mandate: At least 2 of the 7 must be women.

🚫 Strict Disqualification Rules:
You cannot serve on the board if you are a player agent, recent SLC office bearer/coach, recent journalist, non-citizen, involved in cricket-related betting, or a parent/sibling of a national squad player.

🗳️ New Tiered Voting Structure:
Tier A: 2 votes (Min. 200 members)
Tier B: 1 vote (Min. 100 members)
Tier C: No voting rights
⏳ 4-Year Terms: Directors serve 4-year terms (max 8-year limit).
💰 Strict Accountability: Audits by the Auditor-General, mandatory disclosures on pay/donations, and direct reports to Parliament.

💬 The Big Question: Will this 7+7 structure finally break up the traditional voting blocs, or will old power dynamics just find a new way to operate?

NOT OUT" turned into OUT?!

Cricket fans are LOSING IT over Pavan Rathnayake’s crazy run-out incident today! Jofra Archer’s direct hit literally knocked the stump OUT of the ground. Did the third umpire get Law 29.2 right?!
