Understanding behavioral economics meant diving deep into my own impulses—the pull that kept me trapped. For so long, I was driven by outside influences I couldn’t see—forces preying on my need for validation, control, and respect. Once I saw these patterns, I could finally start disrupting them.

One of the biggest revelations? Anchoring bias. It’s when we cling to the first thing we know, letting it shape our choices. In street life, my anchor was survival, respect, and power. In corporate life, it was blending into a hierarchy that rewards conformity. But breaking out of both worlds required redefining success and comfort by my own standards—not anyone else’s.

Being “The Man” and the Hidden Dangers

When you’re “the man” everyone looks up to or fears, you carry weight. On the street, status is survival. But in corporate life, it means compromise, playing by unspoken rules, and keeping things “safe.” The danger of being “the man” is it blinds you to the real motives around you—the jealousy, the quiet resentment. One day you’re on top; the next, you’re the target.

Behavioral economics showed me this: when people see you as powerful, they won’t challenge you directly. But behind the scenes, they’re planning. That illusion of invincibility? It’s a trap—whether on the street or in the boardroom.

Moving Forward: Redefining My Path

Escaping the street life and corporate illusion wasn’t just about choosing differently. It was about seeing myself differently. True freedom isn’t about who respects or fears you; it’s about who you become, without chains. Behavioral economics revealed that the things I thought controlled me were actually patterns I could change.

So if you feel trapped, remember: it’s not just the streets or corporate world that holds you. It’s the comfort of what you think you know. True freedom? It’s understanding the forces that keep you bound—and choosing to rise above them.
