It has been a positive start to the year with good class numbers and a few of our fencers entering regional and national competitions. Sinead, John, Grahame and Manish represented the club at the Australian David McKenzie Championships. Sinead won her first epee title at the Mixed Epee Northern Regional fencing competition.

Congratulations to our new beginner fencers from last term - Breana, Hekla. Tristan, Jenson, Alexi, Ezekiel, Masroor, Xavier, James and Archer.

Our yearly awards for 2025 for exemplary effort in fencing and sportsmanship throughout the year were awarded to Koray, Bridget, Bindi, Conor, Chantel and Gordon.

Term 4 is commencing, and we had a large number of junior fencers last term enter into our own school competition. We are proud of the results everyone achieved. A number of club fencers travelled around NSW and interstate to enter a variety of regional, state and national fencing events. Well done to all our competitors for their sportsmanship, enthusiasm and strong performances at these events.

Highly commendable results were achieved by Kosma Krawczyk winning the 2025 Northern Regional Championships Foil Competition. Harley Agana entered the inaugural Sydney Intervarsity Fencing League foil competition finishing 3rd. At the Australian Fencing Circuit national tournament held in Brisbane, John Rota finished 3rd in the Veteran Men’s Epee against competitors from across Australia.

John, Grahame and Manish will be representing the club in the forthcoming Australian Masters Games in Canberra. Manish is also preparing to represent Australia at the World Veteran Fencing Championships next month in Bahrain.

The fencing club is holding a foil competition for high school aged students on Sunday 31st August. The event is an ideal opportunity for those who may have not entered a competition before to experience a friendly and supportive fencing competition.

Timetable
Girls foil commencing 9.00am (registration opens at 8.30am)
Boys foil commencing 1.00pm (registration opens at 12.30pm)

Entry Fee: $25.00

Entries can be made now or accepted on the day.

Over the last term Penrith fencers have been travelling across the state to compete in multiple competitions. Our fencers accumulated some big kilometres and strong results with tournaments in Newcastle, Canberra, Sydney, and the Blue Mountains. A special mention to our first-time competitors for their preparation, effort and achievements at these events.

Fencing in 2025 has started well with large class numbers resuming. It is nice to see the continued growth in the number of female fencers. They are now rivalling the number of boys in our Saturday morning class.

Congratulations to all our fencers who completed their beginner's course last year and to Aerial, Tyler, Ainsley, Stratford, Martin and Jye who received our annual end of year awards for their exemplary effort in fencing and sportsmanship throughout the year. New beginner fencing classes commence throughout the year.

Term 4 fencing is ready to start and we had a large number of club members enter into our own School Challenge Fencing Competition and Bill Gal Epee Tournament. Competitors came from across the Blue Mountains, Newcastle and the Sydney region. We are proud of the results everyone achieved. A special congratulations to all first time competitors.

Our own Manish Patel is enroute to Dubai to represent Australia at the World Veteran Fencing Championships.

During the past term, club members have entered competitions around the state achieving a number of strong results. John won the ACT State Open Veteran Epee. Harley placed 2nd in the Northern Regional Foil Competition in Newcastle and Justen came 3rd in the foil at the Richard Emmerick Shield in the Blue Mountains.
