It is with great sadness that our club acknowledges the sudden passing of one of our much-loved Life Members, Chrissie Sharrock, who passed away unexpectedly last Friday, 21 August.

Chrissie's passing has been deeply felt not only throughout the Coolum Touch family, but across the wider Coolum community. Through her tireless community work, kindness and generosity, she touched the lives of countless people and leaves behind a legacy that extends far beyond our club.

Chrissie was an extraordinary contributor to our club and a truly remarkable woman.

Throughout her years of service, she fulfilled almost every committee role imaginable and served with distinction on our Executive Committee as both Secretary and President. She was the driving force behind many of the initiatives that helped shape our club into what it is today.

She was the principal organiser of our 40th Anniversary celebrations, an enormous undertaking that she approached with the same passion, dedication and care that she brought to everything she did for our club. She was also instrumental in keeping our junior and lady’s competitions going during challenging times, ensuring that opportunities remained available for our younger players and women to continue playing the sport they loved.

But perhaps her greatest legacy was the people she influenced.

Even after stepping away from active involvement in the club to concentrate on the family business, Chrissie remained a valued mentor to those who followed her onto the committee. Her advice was always measured, thoughtful and mature. She never rushed to judgement or encouraged quick decisions. Instead, she would listen, consider the situation carefully and offer calm, sensible guidance.

That influence has continued through successive committees and is a very real part of the club we have today.

Chrissie's contribution was very much a family affair. Her husband, Wade, is also a Life Member of our club. Together they played, refereed and volunteered countless hours to support our club. Their daughter, CJ, also grew up through our junior competitions and became a talented referee herself.

The three of them have given an enormous amount to our club over many years, and their contribution will always be part of our history.

Although the family have not been actively involved with the club for a number of years as they have focused on their business, they have never been forgotten. And Chrissie certainly will not be forgotten.

She was simply a lovely, caring person. She had a beautiful smile, a warm nature and a way of making every interaction a positive one. Those who had the privilege of knowing her will remember not only what she did for our club, but the wonderful person she was.

The success of our club today has been built, in no small part, on the foundations and legacy left by people like Chrissie. We are incredibly grateful for everything she gave to our club, our players, our committees and our community.

Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with Wade, CJ and their family at this incredibly difficult time.

At the family's request, and with the agreement of the club, we will hold a Memorial Service at the club on Sunday, 27 September from 1:00pm, with the gathering expected to continue until approximately 6:00pm.

All current and former members, players, referees, committee members, volunteers, friends and anyone whose life was touched by Chrissie are warmly invited to come together to remember, celebrate and honour her life.

Memorial enquiries: Please contact Peter Feldman (President) on 0417793460, or email the club at [email protected]
