IHWA Women’s Team 2022

Well that’s a wrap for the 2022 Australian National Women’s Championship in Melbourne.
While we didn’t come away with a medal finishing 4th the girls left everything they had on the ice and we are so proud of them!

For a team that was put together about 5 weeks ago and have trained together for just 5 hours as a team we exceeded everyone’s expectations. 7 games over 3.5 days was a tough ask for such a new team.

It has been a great championship and thank you to everybody who put blood, much sweat and many tears into the last 5 days.

Congratulations to Molly Lukowiak for getting MVP for the WA team and Sasha King for the best goalie of the tournament.

DAY 4 UPDATE

QLD first up this morning and a 3-2 shoot out win. Both goalies Madi and Sasha were solid in net. The game this afternoon vs VIC was a 6-2 loss but we were the only team to score on the VIC team all tournament so far as they are the team to beat. The girls are taking some time out tonight to recharge ready for semi final hockey tomorrow.

DAY 3:
Big day with 2 games.
First up shootout win 3-2 against NSW and our second game 4-1 win against ACT.
2 more games in the round robin tomorrow against QLD and VIC before finals begin Sunday.

A massive congratulations to the IHWA men’s Browm team who came away with the gold medal tonight!

DAY 2:
Let the championships begin!
First up 1-0 win against SA. Sasha’s first game wearing the yellow & black and a shut out win!
Back at it tomorrow at 10:30am against NSW.
