I am also an ICF-accredited trainer since 2012, committed to advancing systemic change through coaching and evidence-based practice.

Call for Research Participants 12/07/2024

This is a call out to anyone who is interested in social change when it comes to systemic inequality! I am doing a Master of Arts Research project in coaching - an experiment in changing unconscious bias. And, I am needing a few more participants to volunteer. People who would be available in the next week or two to be either a Coachee Group member or Control Group Member!

One experiences a personal development journey to explore changing an unconscious bias and the other (Control Group member) will be asked to fill in a form online and then take the Implicit Association Test online 3 times (it takes about 5-10 mins each time).

If you are sick of hearing about the problem of bias in our society, and never hearing about people working on a solution, this is a chance to contribute to research on a solution!

This is a bit of a call out for help from fans of coaching and people who would love to see us live in a fair and more equitable society!

This year is the year I am doing my Masters research project into if Neuro Coaching can change unconscious bias. This is super exciting, and, for it to succeed, I really need a large pool of volunteers to select 10 coachees and 10 control members from, for the study to really 'count'.

Because it is proving tricky to get the numbers, the study has moved to be 'online coaching'. Anyone who could meet with me in the +0800 timezone could be a Coachee for 4 x 1 hour coaching sessions.

If you cannot participate as a Coachee because you have studied coaching or NLP, or Psychology, you CAN still help by being in the pool of people taking the Implicit Association Test (5 mins online) in parallel.

Please, if you are a member of any forums of people interested in supporting social change like this, or with a love of personal development, posting a link to the page with more info, or just sharing this post would be very much appreciated.

Do you think we need to know how to change Unconscious Bias, not just be ‘aware’ of it? 30/04/2024

Exploring a crucial question: Do we simply raise awareness of unconscious bias or should we actively learn how to change it?

I am excited to be conducting a research project titled 'Can Neuro Coaching Change Unconscious Bias?'. With participants, I will be working to see if it is possible to change an unconscious bias using coaching tools that have already been used for decades to change limiting beliefs at an unconscious level. Applications for the volunteer pool are still open. If you participate, you will receive 4 x 1 hr coaching sessions online for FREE.

You can check this article for more details.

Do you think we need to know how to change Unconscious Bias, not just be ‘aware’ of it? Imagine a world where our unconscious biases are not barriers but bridges to understanding and collaboration. This is an opportunity to contribute to this.

Call Out For Research Volunteers: Free Online Coaching to see if we can change Unconscious Bias 24/04/2024

Personally, I am curious about the role individuals can play in ‘being the change we want to see’ in this area, by working to change our unconscious biases using coaching methods.

Unconscious bias is a normal outcome of living in our culture, but not something that we consciously want to carry. What would it be like if we had a choice to change the automatic associations that we have picked up, that emerge as micro-aggressions, or only really doing micro-affirming with certain groups?

I am still in need of volunteers for 4 FREE online coaching sessions for my postgraduate research project in Coaching. People will need to donate their time to see if coaching can change an unconscious bias of their own choice. You can click through to learn more.

The study is for my Master of Arts in Neuro Coaching. This research will meet the gold standard of ‘evidence-based’, with before and after testing.

Your help by sharing this post would be appreciated.

This study has now moved to online coaching, instead of in-person. If you were interested in seeing if it is possible to change your own unconscious biases (a bias of your choice), but could not volunteer based on your location, please reconsider! I need more volunteers to create a randomised sample.

This is a very real opportunity to help make a difference in the world. Just click to watch a short video to learn more about the research project and how volunteers can help make it happen.

Key Strategies for Recognizing and Eliminating Bias in the Workplace 08/04/2024

Great to see something about addressing unconscious bias here. Of these ideas for Strategies based on my reading for my own research on the topic, I think the two best are: the blind resume review and the inclusion of allyship as a frame in all unconscious bias training. This last one is so important for people being made to feel bad about biases that have been picked up just by growing up in the dominant culture, something that is counterproductive to creating a connection between people. Without this, awareness trainings have sometimes been found to lead to guilt and greater isolation as people avoid being biased by avoiding actual people!

This is why I am throwing a whole heap of energy into doing a postgraduate research project to find out if coaching can change unconscious bias. If you are also interested and would like to know more about it, check out the details in this article.
