You may have heard of the “Spinning Plates Theory”, which is basically a metaphor for life…

We all have multiple areas of our lives that require our attention:

👩‍💼 Career
💰 Finances
💪🧠 Our mental and physical health
❤️ Romance / Significant other
🤝 Relationships with Family & Friends
👨‍👩‍👦‍👦 Parenting
🏡 Our Physical Environment/Surroundings
💡 Hobbies & interests…

All of these areas of life are interdependent, meaning that they overlap and have a flow on effect into each other.

Like spinning plates — if you focus too much on keeping one or two spinning, the others will start to get wobbly. 😬

Very often our physical and mental health are the first things to drift into the background as we busy ourselves with the plates of being an adult. 🤯

We might get away with it in the short term, but eventually, something has to give 😱.

Often the first thought is to go “all in” to make a big change…

But then we end up with the same problem… the other plates get wobbly and the cycle continues 😔

It doesn’t have to be this way. 🙅‍♀️

The trick is to start small. Even a little bit of focus on your health will make a difference.🧘‍♀️

And as the song goes… “From little things big things grow” 🎶

Do you like the idea of starting small but could use some help identifying what to focus on?

At Be Water we help busy Mum’s and Dads feel confident and capable in movement and in life 👋.

We do this by helping you make small improvements, layered over time, to fit seamlessly into your day to day routine. 📆

The idea isn’t to go all in to turn things around in one go with “willpower” or “discipline”.

It’s to consistently show up for yourself and meet your body where it’s at, doing what feels good for YOU.

If this sounds like your kind of approach to movement and well-being reach out ☺️

We’d love to help you move towards better 🤝

The holidays are coming… 🎄 🎇

Cue the boozy get togethers and scorching summer days 🍻🌞 🥵 🏖

Let’s be real. You’re going to indulge a little.

I’m not going to tell you to deny the opportunity to let your hair down. 🥳

You absolutely can and should enjoy yourself in the silly season.

But, there’s a difference between ‘living a little’ and completely falling off the wagon 🤷‍♀️.

Here’s a few tips to help you get the best of both worlds these holidays:

Keep showing up! Maintain a routine. It may look different than usual but keep doing the things that keep you on the right track.

Do what feels good! If that means getting after it then great, but it could also mean taking it easy. Doing less is often a great ice breaker that leaves you feeling confident you can do more next time 💪💪.

Plan ahead! Mark down the events you have coming up where you know that you’re going to splurge, then put in extra effort to make healthier choices in your own time on either side of that so it balances out.

Remember your ‘Why’! Your ‘goals’ may take a back seat during the holidays but your ‘why’ should always be up front and centre.

You don’t have to sacrifice everything and you shouldn’t. But when you check in with your ‘why’ you will likely find that some opportunities to splurge are more ‘worth it’ than others.

The key is to keep showing up for YOU through the silly season. Living it up, but also playing the long game ❤️🎄.

Wishing one of our star-members Hayley 🌟 the best of luck and adventures as she embarks on a 3 month world trip 🥳.

She leaves fully equipped with an array of body weight exercises as well as the drive to get her hands on some bells whilst away 💪❤️.

I love that with two years of practice under her belt now, she has the knowledge in how to program for herself and the self sufficiency to carry it out. 👊

Even whilst on holidays practicing movement in some form is a non-negotiable for her, having witnessed first hand that she simply feels better with it in her life 🙌💫

Welcome to our newest member Jade 🥳💪.

I loved the level of focus she brought to her Kickstarter.🌟

Ready and willing to learn how to move well and improve strength from the ground up. 🙌

She was referred to us by her amazing mum Mel, who shifts between practicing strength with myself, and Muay Thai with Coach Shannon ☺️

With Jade jumping on board their duo is now one of a few families with multiple members in our movement community. 🧘‍♀️🧘‍♀️💕

It’s so awesome to see our Be Water mums and dads taking steps towards a healthier lifestyle, becoming stronger and confident in all they take on in life… 🏆

It’s even more awesome to see those choices spiraling out, inspiring their kids to want in on the action too.❤️💪.

So to all our Be Water mums and dads — Great work! Keep on “being the change”.🌟👏👏

It’s such a joy to to be a part of your journeys as you “move toward better”. ☺️

Super proud of these two, .I.peek and for getting in the ring over the weekend on the Champions gym “Girls Fight Back” sparring day. 🏆 🎉

This was Mel’s very first time in the ring and the lead up came with some big tests for her.

I’m super proud that she chose to say yes to the experience regardless, and also for doing so well! 🥳🙌

Congratulations are also in order for our coach Shannon on her first steps into the ring postpartum. 💥🥊☺️

Shannon has put in the work to gradually rebuild strength from the inside out, starting with our Core Basics Course and expanding out from there.

At a year postpartum we are proud to see her step through the ropes looking fit and strong, but most of all enjoying the experience!

Thankyou to for having us, we look forward to seeing more of our students step up to the challenge and participate in future events. 👏 ☺️

‘Strong’ is more than how heavy you lift, or how you look physically. ❤️👊

It’s knowing you can show up for yourself, for your health, for your wellbeing. 🤗

It’s practicing strength, a journey of personal as well as physical development. 👩‍🎓

Our aim is to weave this into our coaching to help you along this path.

To equip you with fundamental skills and knowledge that empower you to feel confident training on your own, to grow and move at the pace that’s right for you.

To help you build the confidence that comes from improved understanding, awareness and trust in your body.

We want you to look back on all that you’ve gained and know that you can rely on yourself through the ups and downs of life. ☺️

To know that no matter how each day looks, as long as you show up and tune in to your body you’ll be moving forwards ❤️💪.

🌟🌟Double 14kg squats for 5 reps🌟🌟, on the journey to conquering the 16’s 💪💪

Also, fine tuning the single arm swing with a 12kg bell and looking sharper each week 🙌🤩.

Hayley came to me knowing she had a history of scoliosis, willing to start from the ground up, to strip movements back to basics and build the strong foundations required for life and strength.

Now Hayley looks forward to her sessions ❤️, she loves starting the day with strength training and heading off to work feeling alert and ready to go.

Great work Hayley, we’re super proud of your progress! 🤩

Mixing it up with the bells 💪, in the puddles with .

Daphne is a mum of two and one of those women who just loves to get s**t done 🤩💪.

Her story and her WHY are so inspiring 🙌.

Daphne's journey has included breaking free from checking her weight on the scales, or feeling like she has to work out ‘X’ amount of times per week. To now, understanding more of what her body needs and exactly what listening to “her” body looks like.

I love that with each year of her journey she continues to see positive changes in mindset, in her approach to training, as well as progressing in strength and skill.

Read on as Daphne shares her inspiring story 🙌💪❤️.

“Snippet of my journey…

I was that kid. The obese kid asked to run around the school 3x a week as part of the “Trim and Fit” club (FAT backwards, so nicknamed FAT club by the school kids in Singapore).

Fast forward to being a young adult, I turned to a low calorie and low fat diet to lose some weight. Back then, exercise of choice was cardio and more cardio. Weights just seem too intimidating.

Eventually I met some great people who taught me the basics of functional training and grew to love exercising. In between, I found out why I struggled with weight so much- a diagnosis of PCOS and IBS meant I had to change my way of approaching diet and exercise.

My mindset changed to fuelling my body with nutrient dense food and to start strength training, to keep it under control. I will always be at risk of diabetes and weight gain is easy for me.

For some time, I did calorie count and learnt what food might trigger my gut. While it was a good learning tool, I didn’t want to be overly obsessed with food either.

Two babies later, I needed some direction and coaching to reset my mind and also my body. I had birth injuries and abdominal separation.

While I understood some of the basic fundamentals, I needed coaching to get my strength back. While losing weight has always been lingering in my mind, I knew I couldn’t go back to cardio bunny days, nor could I train as “hard” as I did pre kids.

It was a tough pill to swallow. From my research in managing PCOS, I understood that it would be maintaining lifestyle changes that would be the key. It wasn’t a quick fix.

I moved to searching for a coach who could guide me through functional training instead of usual workout routines. I wanted someone who understood woman’s health and an alignment towards philosophy on nutritional foods rather than a calorie counting approach.

In the last two years with Theresa, I have learnt about patterning and consistency. I grew to understand my “all or nothing” approach isn’t the only way to reach goals.

I learned that functional training is about sustaining it for life. I continued to ditch the calorie counting or weighing myself because I’m gaining tools to measure my progress holistically.

Steadily, I grew more comfortable in my strength workouts. They aren’t always perfect, but I learned why I have not so strong days (by correlation with my cycle) and that’s ok. What matters is patterning- training with right technique.

Given that Theresa wrote me a workout program that I can do at home, I fit it in between parenting two little ones and a part time job. The reminder that it is showing up that matters, and this continued to surprise me in the strength outcomes.

This began to naturally reinforce that I don’t have to rely on weighing myself, or calorie to gauge to know how I am doing.

Today, I can run 5km, be comfortable with deadlifting more than my body weight and doing presses that I never thought were possible.

I know that I can move fairly well, and have the tools to continue to stay at a consistently healthy weight. Having lost significant weight 3 times, I have moved towards embracing myself- both in strengths and needs.

I have also permanently given up that elusive membership to that TAF (FAT) club forever.”
