AGR Wealth Group ODD took the fight to ladder leading Leeming Spartan in their semi final over the weekend, but ended up falling short against a strong opponent.

Batting first, Ryan Cook took the fight straight to the opposition at the top of the order. He made a supremely entertaining 50 off 55 balls, with 40 of those runs coming from boundaries. Only a run out stopped him; his good form tricking him into thinking he still had two working knees. A procession of wickets fell following this dismissal, with Brodie Rees the only other batter to get past 10 runs with a typically aggressive BReesy performance of 16 off 12 balls. This left them stumbling to 110 all out in the 31st over. Leaving 9 overs on the board ended up playing a major factor in the result.

Unfortunately, after a couple of skied balls managed to find gaps in the field, the target started to look small. Ravi Sethi managed to buy an early wicket with a rare poor ball finding Brodie Rees for a good catch. Near on every other ball he bowled proved to be probing giving him the figures of 1-20 off 6.3 overs. Imidio Goncalves (1-20) took a sharp return catch before Andrew Hardie (1-14) snared a wicket an over later thanks to a screamer from Oliver Wilson at midwicket. This gave some hope to our boys at 3-81, having won their previous four matches from not dissimilar positions. Unfortunately, defending 110 proved to be a bridge to far, with hands being shaken in the 27th over as they passed the score.

A successful season ended with them them being outmatched by a very strong side on the day, but all 12 players played with great sportsmanship and represented Hilton Bicton Cricket Club with aplomb. Next season will see them going two spots better!

SCEE Electrical First Grade played a match that probably felt more like a rollercoaster ride. Bowling first, they put the pressure write on to Willetton, with a wicket in the first over to Kim Forrest (3-29). This became a trend, with no partnership other than the 7th wicket producing more than 15 runs. Cohen Cook (2-22) and Noah Preston (2-24) were rewarded with a couple of wickets. Limiting Willetton to 115, the thoughts were our boys were in the box seat. Steve Pascoe (45) anchored the innings, batting from 1-20 until 7-95. The collapse that happened around him gave the opposition a sniff. Kim Forrest looked to lead the boys over the line with a couple of huge sixes to help bring them within 3 runs. Unfortunately, the third didn't connect as sweetly, ultimately seeing them fall to 112 all out.

Lawrence Group Third Grade also came up against Willetton in a bid to keep their finals hopes alive. Bowling first, they gave them absolute hell, John Elliman taking advantage of the unique rules of the day to bowl 17 overs straight to claim 3-30. He was supported by Dan McNab (2-16) and a cameo by Angus Horton (4-10). This reduced Willetton to 71. Aaron Wright (37) ran the show from the top of the order to simplify the innings, ultimately passing the score at 6-72. As other results did not go our way, effectively ruling them out of finals, the two teams shook hands to finish the day.

AGR Wealth Group ODD played a must win game against Armadale to lock in a finals berth. Batting first looked to be an issue early, slumping quickly to 5-39 despite Ryan Cook's (22) fast start. This bought Dean Lobo (28) and Imidio Goncalves (64) to the crease, who proceeded to put on an incredibly important 70 run partnership, helping transform the innings to get to 169. The bowling innings started great, with two early wickets to Ravi Sethi (2-19) setting the scene at 2-13. The opposition then found a couple of partnerships before Andrew Hardie (3-11) was introduced to the attack. The bowling partnership between him and Geoff Baudains (3-40) turned the game back in our favour, with the final wicket falling at 133, giving the ODD boys their 4th win in a row and massive form heading into finals.

HD BestCarService ODFs bowled first against Perth Tamil. Some good early bowling wasn't rewarded with many early wickets, which ended up with the shackles being loosened to see them make 287. Noel Savage (2-43) was the pick of the bowlers. This total was always going to be a bridge too far, but there was some promising signs with the bat. Sam De Sousa (19) and Matthew Bunce (18) were the leading run scorers to push the total to 111, batting the 35 overs.
