When we first started working together, confidence was the biggest area we wanted to improve.

Like many young players, he sometimes compared himself to those around him and doubted his own ability. Through consistent work on:
✅ scanning
✅ relieving pressure
✅ turning out of tight spaces
✅ breaking lines with positive forward passes

his confidence has grown alongside his technical and tactical understanding of the game.

👏 Now into his second block of 10 sessions, his progress has been rewarded with selection in an age group above his own and opportunities to play multiple positions thanks to his developing all-round game.

The best part? He’s starting to trust himself more, play with freedom, and show the player he’s capable of becoming.

🧡 This young player came to me with a real love and interest for the game. Playing and training regularly…

😞 But like many at his age, he’d started to compare himself to other players around him. That feeling of being “behind” can quietly chip away at confidence and enjoyment.

🔕 So we flipped the environment. Less noise. Less comparison. More focus on him.

💪🏼 A space where he can build his skills, understand his strengths, and grow at his own pace — without pressure, without judgement.

🦸‍♂️ Because confidence doesn’t come from being better than others. It comes from becoming better than you were yesterday!

⚽️🔥 It’s sometimes in the minor details…🔥⚽️

1️⃣ One way I like to coach is to bring it back to basics. Stop complicating it. Stop filling the brain with too many ideas. Too much fog.

🆓 I try to let my clients express themselves and be free to make mistakes and keep practicing over and over until we get it consistent. Not perfect. Just better.

✅ The small differences here are minor but so important to allow Jacob to do the simple things right and effectively.
