Club Day: where tennis, pizza and questionable quiz answers collide 🎾🍕

We started the day with a bunch of fun activities, including Beat the Committee. Turns out taking on the committee is a lot harder than it looks, but that didn’t stop everyone from having a crack. Respect to everyone who stepped up! 💪

Next up were the awards, where we celebrated all the achievements of UWA club members across different competitions. Some seriously impressive efforts, and some very proud trophy faces. 🏆

Then came the most important part of any event: food. The pizza from Il Locale Pizza- Best in The West - Pizza Club 🐆 was unreal, and we all shamelessly ate more and more as the quiz night went on…🍕

And what a quiz night! Simon and Angie Harper brought the twists, the turns and categories for absolutely everyone, so nobody could use “that’s not my topic” as an excuse. They also threw in games like toss the ball in the basket for extra points, which proved that we’re better off sticking to tennis. 🏀😂

A massive thank you to everyone who came through, members and non-members alike. We can’t wait to see you all again! Thanks to the committee for putting together such a fun evening, and a very special thank you to Simon and Angie Harper (Sharper Tennis) for a quiz night we’ll be talking about for weeks. 🙌

Don’t go anywhere, because we’re back on 23 October for the opening night of our Summer State League, starting at 6pm. Come down, bring your friends, and bring your best tennis face. 🎾🔥 P.S. There will be great food😋

🎾 Big week for UWA Tennis Club — and it’s not done yet.

Lotti Keijzer and Nelke Lorenz rocked up to their very first ITF World Tennis Masters Tour event on Saturday… and won the whole thing🥇

It was an MT100 Masters doubles event at Dalkeith Tennis Club, 30+ only, played in age categories. Three teams stood between them and the gold. Three teams got beaten.

In their words: “It was tough for us to play during the day rather than our usual night play, and we needed a proper stretch in between and after matches, but we had a lot of fun!”

Debut tournament. Gold medals. A few extra hamstring stretches. We’d call that a successful day out 👏

🎾 UniSport Nationals Perth

Four teams, one week, and a whole lot of tennis. Two men’s and two women’s teams put on the blue on gold for UWA Nationals last week, right here on home courts.

A huge congratulations to our Men’s 1st team, who finished the week as runner’s up 🥈— a brilliant effort against some seriously strong teams!

Weeks like this are what the club is about: a chance to compete at a high level, play alongside your mates, and represent the university while you do it. Every athlete who took the court did exactly that.

Thank you UniSport Australia for putting on such a well-run event, and a massive shoutout to our very own Coach Simon Harper for everything working up to and during the competition!

To all our players — thank you for the way you competed and represented UWA💙💛
