Lock in the dates and start saving for hockey in sunny Cairns!!

Next year's Masters National Championship's locations have just been announced. The Hockey Australia Masters Championships are heading to Queensland in 2020 following confirmation that Cairns and the Gold Coast have secured the events.
Cairns will play host to the 2020 Australian Masters Women’s Championships from 1-11 July, while next year’s Men’s Masters Championships will be held on the Gold Coast over two separate periods, moving away from the traditional September/October period in order to avoid clashes with the 2020 Masters World Cup events.

The 45+ to 75+ age categories for the 2020 Australian Men’s Masters Hockey Championships will be held from 27 June – 12 July, with the 35+ and 40+ competitions to take place from 1-10 October 2020.

Look forward to seeing everyone in the Sunshine State.

We won 2-1
Possession hockey won the game. Great one time shot from Charlene Watters after TV hockey passing put us 1 up in the first quarter. In the second quarter Sinead French-Bluhm showed us all how to toma to put us 2-0 up. They scored at some point in the third quarter. We fought it out and with weary legs it almost turned into walking hockey.
We won the 3 vs 4 game but due to playing a round robin with no finals we ended 4th on goal difference.
Thanks to our amazing coach, Fay Nash, who spends hours analysing games to prepare us for the matches. Also to our captain, Anita Scott, who is the calm voice on the pitch and has led by example all tournament.

Yesterday was a much needed rest day! Some went to Mt Tambourine, the beach at Burleigh Heads, Brisbane and off with friends. Some went on a croc adventure. Then we got to watch our o35’s play some good hockey, loved being there to support you girls 👏🏻👏🏻

Our 2nd game vs NSW was our fourth in a row and we needed to dig deep into our reserves to be competitive. We settled after 10 minutes and worked well together finding connections across the pitch. We dominated possession but were unable to pe*****te the NSW defense. NSW scored 2 breakaway goals in the second and third quarters. We continued to believe in our process and were rewarded with a short corner goal by Jodie George. Final score 1-2.
Player of the game; Nic Ilich
