WAVC O40s Women’s National Representative Selection Policy
On 12th June, Western Australian Veterans Cricket (WAVC) announced via their official page and the WAVC Stack TeamApp the release of their Selection Policy for the National Representative sides.
We encourage all players to take the time to review the policy to ensure you are familiar with the criteria and expectations of the new selection process.
You can view the policy in full either on the WAVC page – Western Australian Veterans Cricket, below, or directly via the Stack TeamApp.
WAVC Women’s O40s Selectors:
• Nathan King – Chief Selector, Australian Selector & Australian Coach
• Andrew Jackson
• Liam Gretgrix
All three selectors bring extensive experience from their involvement in men’s veterans cricket, and we’re confident they will bring a high standard of leadership and insight to the selection process.
Congratulations to all the selectors on their appointments and good luck to all potential players.

A MESSAGE FROM CRICKET AUSTRALIA MASTERS PRESIDENT, MURRAY HARRISON:
A New Era: Veterans Cricket Australia Becomes Cricket Australia Masters
Dear Members,
I am pleased to share an exciting and important development in the evolution of our organisation. After extensive consultation with our Board, State Associations, and players—both men and women—we are officially changing our name from Veterans Cricket Australia to Cricket Australia Masters.
This decision reflects a considered and strategic move to better align our identity with the broader over-age sporting community, both nationally and internationally. The term "Veterans", while honourable and well-respected, carries different meanings in different contexts. In Australia, it is most commonly associated with those who have served in the defence forces. While we have always used the term with pride and respect, we acknowledge that its use in sport can unintentionally create confusion and may imply a narrow age or gender frame.
The name Cricket Australia Masters more accurately reflects who we are today and where we are heading. The term Masters is the widely accepted global standard for over-age sport across all genders. Our female members have also voiced strong support for this change, recognising Masters as an inclusive and familiar term used across many codes and competitions.
Importantly, this change also brings us into clearer alignment with our international counterparts. As proud members of the International Masters Council, which governs over-age cricket competitions globally, adopting the Masters identity strengthens our international recognition and reinforces our commitment to representing Australia with excellence on the world stage.
This name change does not alter our purpose or passion—it simply modernises our language to reflect the inclusive, competitive, and respected cricket community we have become. We will continue to honour the legacy built under the Veterans Cricket Australia banner while embracing this fresh chapter with pride.
The Board has also agreed to a new logo and branding to align more closely with Cricket Australia. Our thanks to Cricket Australia for their support of this change. Whilst it will take some time to make these changes, you’ll see our new name and branding roll out across our communications, uniforms, and digital platforms. We thank you for your continued support and commitment, and we look forward to growing even stronger together as Cricket Australia Masters.
Murray Harrison

The VCA have called a special general meeting to be held next Thursday 19th June to consider a special resolution:
“that the Board approves a change in identity of Veterans Cricket Australia (VCA Inc) to Cricket Australia Masters (CAM Inc), and to adopt the Cricket Australia (CA) shield as a logo."
Cricket Australia and the VCA have come to an agreement and CA have provided approval to the VCA to change its logo and name as part of an identity change and a style guide and the proposed adoption of logos is attached to the announcement made in our TeamApp.
The large rational regarding the change is the wording “Veterans” and how in the wider public the word veterans has a direct connection and reference to someone that had served in the ADF, including current and former personnel.
Masters is a term used by other sports and is typically used for over 35s competition in many sports globally.
If you would like to provide feedback or comments please do so via email to [email protected] prior to the Special General Meeting.
