In water polo defense, "wrestling" refers to the physical struggle to gain positional advantage, control the opponent, and prevent shots.
This involves using body positioning, shoulder control, and
"eggbeater" leg strength to stay high in the water and wrestle for position, while offensive players will grab, hold, and use "spinning" to break free. Defenders must maintain a strong defense by keeping their hips up to avoid being pushed, using their off-hand to control the opponent, and maneuvering to prevent easy access to the goal.
