The Very Average Surfer

Gotta love a surf trip…

Surfing at Stricko’s can be intimidating at times. There’s the sneaker sets to give you a belting, the crowd is sometimes rabid, and it’s a bit of a trek to get there. All that is part of the game.
What I wasn’t ready for was the commentary from the gallery. On a recent outing I was joined in the adventure by my missus, who perched herself in the viewing shack.
After my session, she was bursting to tell me that one comment was “the old dog just got a good one (aka wave).
I’m not sure what hurt the most, being identified as old from 100 metres, or the tears of laughter coming from my wife. She was gasping for air for 15 minutes.
Next time it will be a solo session.
