This isnāt really about the hop, itās about the landing š¬
Stand on one leg beside a yoga block, cushion or any small object youāre unlikely to injure yourself on.
Hop sideways over it, land on the other leg, then pause. Donāt rush straight back.
Give your foot time to find the floor and let the rest of your body sort itself out above it.
That little landing asks quite a lot from your foot, ankle, knee, hip and middle. They all have to absorb the movement, steady you and stop you toppling over
Sideways hopping is useful because most of us spend a lot more time moving forwards than side to side. And life does occasionally require a sideways step or stumble every now and again.
Try landing quietly, (itās harder than it looks). Wait to feel in control before you move again.
You can do it barefoot, in shoes, over something tiny or with no object at all.
And you can hold onto something nearby if needed when you first start.
Hop. Land. Pause. Wobble a bit. Try again. Thatās it, your brain and balance will thank you later.

One day, you will look back and realise that practicing squats has just become a part of your life now š¤£
Might not feel like it now but (almost) everyone, should be practicing deep-ish squats
Not by forcing them though, cos ouch! Hereās some tricks ā¬ļø
Use a railing or doorway for support and work within a pain-free range of motion. Over time, that consistency will help you with life stuff.
The goal isnāt to squat as deep as possible TODAY. The goal is to gradually improve over time.
Choose ONE variation that feels right for your body:
⢠Hold onto a counter or railing
⢠Use a door frame for extra support
⢠Elevate your heels if ankle mobility is limiting you (I used weights but you could use books or a rolled up towel)
Remember, you are āuser definedā, your body adapts to what you practice.
Is there somewhere in your house that gives an option that work well for your body? Ideas please!
