Some great results for the Swan canoe club in the Avon Descent 2026 last weekend.
Swan club member Oscar Jones was first to the finish line on day 2 in the 124 Ultra single class in a tight finish with Luke Dooley who was first overall. The final gap was just 46 seconds.
Trav England with Charlie Hewitt got 2nd day line honors in a tight finish with the series leaders (the Busso Boys) and were 2nd overall in the 124 Untra Double class.
Warwick Smith in a 124 Ultra team of 4 were 1st in their category. Other team members are Beven Dashwood, Glen Smith and Dave Worthy.
Gabe Connel in the 5Km Bayswater Splash and Dash 1st overall in his K1. Emrys Connel 14km Guildford Glide 1st Male K1
In the 17km lilac Challenge Sasha Small K1, was second overall by a couple of seconds to Harry Hewitt, Alasdair Marsden was 3rd, Maynard Grey was 7th, all also in K1โ€™s.
Hugo Marsden was 9th in the single open category, after having to fix some rudder damage to his K1, and hung on to pip Andy Pitchford (in Beast mode) on the line. Andrew was 1st in the S1 category.

There were some good results for SCC paddlers who complete in the John Sims on the weekend. Sasha Small and Alastair Marsden were first overall with a new long course record for their age group. Ellie Neervoort and Camilla Barbi were first in their age groups for the long course. Andy Pitchford was 2nd in the long course 65+ class. Gregory Small was 2nd in the 8k short course. Alex Marsden also competed.

Swan ended up with 11.5 Gold, 9.5 Silver and 8.25 Bronze from the 2026 Canoe Sprint National Championships ending up ranked 5 of all Australian Canoe Clubs. IIn late results Trav England got gold for the Mens Over 45 K1 1000, the Mens Over 45 K1 500 and another gold in the with Mens Over 45 K2 500Alex Marsden.

Today at the 2026 Canoe Sprint National Championships SCC had over a dozen competitors, junior, open and seniors. The Swan team has already had a number of podium finishes.

In the men's K2 1000m 14 & Under Brody Long and Gregery Small got the gold and are national champions! They also got Bronze in the 500m. Gregory Brody also had several podium finishes in the K1 races.

Ellie Neervoort, had a first in the K1 500m, a first in the K2 with E Jarvis from Bayswater and was also in the 3rd placed K4 team.

Sasha Small and Alex Marsden scored a silver in the K2 500m.

Hugo Marsden got silver in the WA K4 team 500m, bronze in the KK2 500m

Camillia Barbi scored a silver in the 200m K1.

Finlay Sullivan scored a silver in the Men's 16 & Under K1 200.
