Big setback in regard to starting a soccer program in Treeby.

Feedback as follows:
-Freo Rosters don’t want us using the southern most parts of the oval and want to limit foot traffic.
-Monday night is the only option they have given us for using a small section of the oval.
-Some Monday’s during Freo Rosters off season, Touch Rugby teams will be using the oval. Apparently paying, to effectively use the oval getting first dibs over us. This has basically giving us no options for operating a Soccer program in Treeby and has completely shutdown any plans for the near future. Perhaps when the new primary school is built, we could request some space there. Pretty disappointing that a locally run program cannot operate in our own backyard.

Update 28/08/26.

Finally we have some responses after weeks of chasing various people at Cockburn City Council and the Freo Roosters Rugby club.
Cockburn City Council are being accommodating towards our Local Soccer program and the Freo Roosters and I have been sharing emails with a possible meeting taken place soon. Still we are hoping to have this up and running by the start of the next School term.

At this stage it’s looking like “Pure Pommy Soccer” will take place on Friday afternoons at 5:30pm during school terms. This is based around the Freo Roosters training days/times, as they are paying the big bucks for use of the oval and the community centre.

ANOTHER UPDATE! 11/08/26.

Cockburn City Council are being super slow and have said our request for starting a Soccer Training Program has been passed onto the senior team leader for assessment. I have also contacted the Freo Roosters club for a meeting to work together with them, so we can use the oval during times they are not there. We have not heard anything back just yet. WA wait a while.......... more updates to follow!

Thanks :))

Just an update ⚽️

Cockburn City Council are looking into our request at the moment and have requested extra info. Approval is based on a number of factors. We’ll adjust our request based on what Cockburn City Council requires, so that we can start the Sunday Soccer sessions ready for term 4. 👌⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️

We are in the process of getting council approval to operate locally at some of the schools in the area, as well as create Sunday soccer sessions for the kids at the Treeby oval when the Freo Roosters are not playing. All Primary school age kids from 4 -11 years old are welcome. There are variety of sports programs operating in the area, however, we do not have a dedicated soccer program in the Treeby area. Times, dates and pricing to be confirmed in the near future. The soccer program will be similar to the Grass Hopper format (similar, not the same), but owned and operated locally. Hopefully we'll be up and running ready for term 4. Support local! Watch this space :)
