NYLANDER FORCED TO WITHDRAW FROM 2026/27 SEASON
A nasty accident sidelined Dave Nylander during the WA State Title back in March, forcing him to miss the last six race meetings of last season
Sustaining major concussion, as well as breaking his foot in 2 places, whiplash and other spinal concerns, he has been having consistent treatment over the last 6 months with ongoing complications.
This being said, Dave has been forced to make the tough decision to withdraw from the 2026/ 2027 Canning Vale Toyota Late Model Series.
“This decision was not made lightly, but I have to put my recovery first” said Nylander. “I had intended to be back behind the wheel leading into the season, but am suffering from a few concussion related concerns causing some major issues still, so have had to make the tough decision to withdraw“
But with one person’s misfortune, comes another’s opportunity.
Team Nylander will still be campaigning the 54 machine, and we have some exciting news to be announced over the coming days. Watch this space!
We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our loyal sponsors for their ongoing support leading into 2026/27!

Barrow Wins at Windy Hill
Chris Barrow has claimed his second victory of the 2026 Late Model Development Series after holding off a determined Michael Comley in an entertaining fifth round at Kellerberrin Speedway's famous "Windy Hill" circuit.
Barrow and Comley shared the front row for the 20-lap feature and immediately put on a thrilling display for the crowd. Comley elected to run the high line while Barrow hugged the bottom of the racetrack, with the pair racing side-by-side through the opening laps.
Comley eventually edged clear and looked in complete control as he built a comfortable advantage over the field. However, the race took a dramatic turn once he encountered lapped traffic.
Attempting to negotiate the #80 of Tina Ingram, Comley zigged when he should have zagged, seeing him go over the cushion in turns one and two. The move unsettled his car and sent him over the top of the banking, costing him the lead in the process.
Despite recovering quickly and charging back onto Barrow's rear, Comley was unable to find a way past the race leader in the closing laps, with Barrow standing firm to secure his second Development Series victory of the season.
The leading duo finished well clear of the remainder of the field, with Brett Niall completing the podium in third after another consistent performance.
Matt Sangston crossed the line in fourth ahead of Ewan Dickson, while Tina Ingram was the race's only retirement after completing 15 laps.
Earlier in the day, Sangston claimed the opening heat race ahead of Niall and Dickson, while Comley struck back in Heat Two, leading home Barrow and Niall to set up the feature race showdown.
Attention now turns to the sixth and final round of the 2026 Late Model Development Series, which will be contested at Ellenbrook Speedway on Saturday, September 27, where the series champion will be crowned.
