π GRAND FINAL RESULTS π
Congratulations to all our Southern Lions teams who made it to the grand finals. Reaching that stage is a tremendous achievement and reflects the hard work, dedication, commitment and resilience shown at training and on the field week after week.
Every player has battled hard, supported their teammates and represented the club with pride. Behind every team is a village: coaches, managers, parents, families, supporters and everyone who helps get players to training, encourages them away from the field and provides the support needed to grow as athletes and as people.
Congratulations to Atatagi Fatupaito Junior from U15's who was awarded the Player of the grand final match from RugbyWA, what an awesome achievement!!
We are excited to watch your rugby journey unfold over the coming years, your big carries and tackles are exciting to watch.

π Junior Finals π
Going into Saturday's Grand Finals with three junior teams competing, and with our U15s and U17s Girls being named Minor Premiers for the 2026 season just days earlier, it highlighted the incredible depth across our playing groups and coaching staff. Reaching three Grand Finals and securing two Minor Premierships is a significant achievement for the Southern Lions and reflects the hard work, commitment, and talent throughout the club.
π΅ U14 Blue π΅
Our day started with the U14 Blue team taking on the only team to defeat them during the season, Joondalup.
The boys started strongly, coming out with intensity and taking an early lead. As expected, Joondalup refused to go away, and the lead changed hands several times throughout a closely contested match.
Credit to our team for continuing to battle until the game was called off early following an unbelievable try-saving tackle from Max Baker. Unfortunately, Max sustained a concussion in the process and came off second best for his efforts. We are pleased to report that he was released from hospital a few hours later and we wish him a speedy recovery.
Congratulations to our U14 Blue team on a fantastic season and for finishing as Runners-Up in 2026.
Final Score: Joondalup 20 β Southern Lions 15
π΄ U15s Premiers π΄
The U15s Minor Premiers faced Joondalup in a Grand Final that was every bit as intense as their Semi Final the week before.
Taking on a strong Joondalup side, we knew it would be a battle from start to finish. We started well and were first to score, but Joondalup responded quickly. A lapse in concentration saw us fall 10 points behind, and many would have written the team off at that stage.
However, this group never gives up. They dug deep and fought until the final play. After winning the lineout, the team crashed through the defence, with Player of the Match Jasmine Inia crossing the line to secure a memorable victory.
The team has battled significant injuries throughout the season, at times having only one or two players available on the bench. Despite these challenges, the talent, determination, and bond within the squad shone through and showed exactly what makes this team so special.
Congratulations to all players and coaching staff on an outstanding achievement and for being crowned the U15s Premiers for 2026.
Final Score: Southern Lions 27 β Joondalup 26
π©·U17s Girlsπ©·
Our final junior match of the day featured the U17s Girls, who had recently been named Minor Premiers for 2026, taking on a West Scarborough/Arks combined team.
The season had been challenging at times, with a lack of games and structure proving frustrating for the group. Despite these obstacles, the girls remained committed to developing their rugby skills, particularly as many will move into Women's rugby in 2027.
The team started strongly with two early tries and showed great physicality, communication, and teamwork. West Scarborough/Arks fought their way back into the game and eventually took the lead. Despite a determined effort from our girls, they were unable to regain the advantage.
I could not have been prouder of a team that stayed united throughout the season and embraced every opportunity to play the game they love.
Final Score: West Scarborough/Arks 31 β Southern Lions 24

π Senior Finals π
Congratulations to our Southern Lions Colts on winning another grand final - your sixth consecutive grand final victory.
This achievement is even more impressive considering that all of these players have stepped into senior rugby for the first time this season. Predominantly a group of 17 and 18-year-olds competing at Colts level, they have shown maturity, discipline and belief well beyond their years.
The Colts faced a hard-fought grand final against Nedlands, a team they have met in the decider for the past three seasons. Everyone knew it would be a tough contest, and the match delivered exactly that. Our lads dug deep, trusted one another and drew on all the hard work they had put in throughout the season. Every training session, every game and every challenge helped prepare them for that moment.
The result was a determined 19β15 victory and another premiership for the Southern Lions Colts.
Congratulations to Kale Tamehana, who was named "Best on Ground" for an outstanding performance. Your work rate, impact and commitment were exceptional.
A special congratulations also goes to captain Kordel and vice-captains Jacob and Bareek, who guided the team with strength and composure. The communication across the field, the support for one another and the constant encouragement from every player were outstanding. The energy, hunger and determination to chase the win were inspiring to watch.
This is a truly exciting group of young men coming through the Southern Lions ranks. They have shown that they are ready to take on the challenges of senior rugby, and there is no doubt that a future Premier Grade side is developing within this team.
Congratulations on an incredible season and a remarkable sixth consecutive grand final victory. We are incredibly proud of you and excited to see what the next few years have in store.
π₯ Thank you to all the people who came to support the lions in their grand finals, you're presence was seen, heard and appreciated so muchπ₯
