Get ready to hear some thrilling news from the world of cricket! The JBS/James Hardie T10 Community Cricket Cup, hosted by the Mediterranean Cricket League, was the most happening event in Perth Cricket Club today, and it was graced by the presence of the mighty Numbats!
The tournament featured some of the best teams around, with Croatia WA, MSI Aboriginal XI, WA Fire & Rescue Service Flashovers, and Ascot Cricket Club all battling it out for glory. And with the support of Mediterranean Cricket League ambassadors, former professionals Brad Hogg, Simon Katich, and Darren Maddy, the competition was sure to be intense!
The Numbats, boasting a powerful line-up, played four thrilling matches throughout the day, starting early at 9:00 am and culminating in a final game that wrapped up at 5:30 pm. The Numbats put in a solid effort all day, showcasing their top-notch top order batting skills and taking wickets with impressive bowling performances.
Their relentless efforts paid off as they emerged victorious in all of their matches, including a nail-biting Super-Over win against their arch-rivals, the WA Fire & Rescue Service Flashovers. And as the dust settled, the Numbats were crowned the champions of the 2023 JBS/James Hardie T10 Community Cricket Cup!
The celebrations were electric, with medals and trophies presented by none other than the third leading Big Bash League run scorer and current Melbourne Renegade star, Jono Wells. But there was one player who truly stood out - the Kellerberrin King, Josh Axcell! He went home with the Best Batsman, Best Bowler, and Player of the Tournament awards, and a stunning prize - a set of stumps featuring artwork by the renowned Whadjuk Noongar Boodja Artist, Roderick Collard.
A potential visit to Croatia to participate in the televised Mediterranean Cricket League to play some of the best teams in Europe could be on the horizon in the not too distant future. Mediterranean Cricket League - MCL. Marradong Art - Roderick Collard

WA NUMBATS v TORONTO CRICKET CLUB

WA NUMBATS WIN BY 24 RUNS
Skipper McLean won the boss and chose to bat, sending in a new look opening pair of Allanson and Wishart.
Allanson clipped the first ball off his toes for a single, sparing himself from taking the duck out tonight, but Wishart decided he liked furry little Daddles and got his off stump cartwheeled out the ground first ball.
Axel and Allanson worked the ball around and hit the loose balls for four before Allanson fell for 22 (20) with the score on 53 in the 8th over.
In strode Nash who worked the gaps and ran Axel reluctantly hard, pushing 2's at every chance. Nash fell for 11 (11) with the score on 82 in the 11th over.
Captain McLean joined Axel and they went about murdering the Toronto attack, hammering anything loose. Axel retired out on 50 (38) with the score on 115 in the 14th over.
Summerfield joined McLean and the pair then set about trying to assault fellow Numbats by peppering the pavilion with huge bombs.
McLean retired out on 53 (28) and Summerfield not out 17 (11).
WA Numbats 3-181 off 20 overs.
Toronto strode to the crease and except for the opener and their number 4 struggled with the Numbats bowling attack.
An entertaining last over by Alec Ingram that went for 29 still not enough for Toronto to challenge the large Numbat score.
Wishart 3-16 off 4 overs
MacLean 1-13 off 2 overs
Summerfield 1-15 off 3 overs
Ingram 0-41 off 3 overs
