Prehistoric archery equipment found in a cave near Granada, Spain, is shedding new light on how our ancestors hunted during the Stone Age. The most remarkable part of the discovery was two 7,000-year-old bowstrings made from the dried tendons of goats, boars, and roe deer. The tendons were twisted together to make strong, flexible strings that were then attached to bows. Archaeologists also uncovered arrows that still had their original feathers connected to them and shafts that were coated with birch pitch for both protective and aesthetic reasons. Now, researchers are saying this discovery "redefines our understanding of Neolithic technologies": https://inter.st/2191

Hello members,
Please remember to follow the speed limit within the shooting complex.
It is very well sign posted and there are regular reminders to comply, so there is really no excuse to speed in the facility.
The facility management are getting increasingly annoyed with speeders. If cars are identified, the driver risks having their vehicle banned from the facility.
Please respect facility that we are extremely fortunate to have access to.

A couple bits of important information.

—The Shooting Complex will be closed for Christmas and Boxing Day—

The December newsletter has just been emailed out, have a read for the latest info.

Please remember to watch the conditions when you’re shooting at the club over the summer period. We’ve all felt the heat over the last few days, and the range is usually a few degrees hotter than the forecast. Carry plenty of water and cover up. It’s highly recommended that you carry your phone with you at all times, you can call out in case of emergency and will recieve emergency warning if there are fires or other alerts in your area.

Merry Christmas and a happy new year to all WAFBC members and their families.
