Do you know what "Sensei" means? It means 'teacher'.... right? Well, yes and no.
Sensei is an honourific that is often used for teachers, but it can be more literally translated as 先 = 'previous' 生 = 'born'. Although it is no longer used to address just anyone older than yourself, it has come to mean anyone who has aquired the wisdom and knowledge that comes from experience.

Have you heard of Zanshin (残心) ?
🥋Zanshin is a total state of awareness. Being aware of your surroundings, the people around you, staying calm and ready to react to any situation.😤️ It also means to remain aware, before, during and after an encounter. 👁
If you want to learn how to defend yourself, first you must understand and train Zanshin. 🙇

R.I.P Chuck Norris.
Last week the Martial Arts world lost a true trail blazer. Chuck Norris made a name for himself in hollywood, but was also a true martial artist with black belts in Karate, Taekwondo, Tang Soo Do, Brazilian jiu-jitsu and Judo. As well as several championship titles under this belt including the Professional Middleweight Karate champion title, which he held for six consecutive years
"I've always found that anything worth achieving will always have obstacles in the way and you've got to have that drive and determination to overcome those obstacles on route to whatever it is that you want to accomplish"

📖STORY TIME!📖
A young Master Matsumura walked into an engravers shop. The engraver was a strong older man, and Matsumura was tall, young and had distincly peircing eyes. The engraver recognised Matsumura
"I beg your pardon, sir, but aren't you Matsumura the karate teacher?"
"Yes what of it?" Matsumura answered
"I have been hoping that I might study karate with you."
"Sorry" Matsumura replied "but I no longer teach"
The Engraver persisted in his questioning, and Matsumura refused again and again, so the Engraver challenged Matsumura to a fight instead.
When the Engraver arrived for the fight Mastumura was already waiting for him. The engraver assumed a fighting position while Mastumura simply stood in a neutral position (shizen tai). When the engraver moved forward to attack he looked into Mastumura's gaze and it was so peircing and terrifying that he found he could not move forward. He began to sweat and his heart began to race and he had to sit down. When he tried again he let out a Kiai "YACH!" but Matsumura did not move. As the distance closed, Mastumura let out his own Kiai, like the sound of a thunderbolt, and the Engraver found himself unable attack, frightened, he yelled out:
"I give up, I give up!"... "I was so frightened by your eyes, that I lost whatever fighting spirit I had"
Matsumura explained "You were determined to win, and I was determined to die if I lost, and that was the difference between us".
