Very sad news indeed. Ted was a great supporter of seniors tennis in WA and great chap to talk to about the game right up until the end. RIP Ted.
It is a deeply sad day for tennis in Western Australia, with the passing of Ted Reiss this morning at the age of 91, peacefully in his sleep.
Ted was a true servant of the game — a passionate advocate for tennis, an innovator, and a tireless supporter of its growth at every level. His influence reached far beyond the court, leaving a lasting impact on generations of players, administrators, and the wider tennis community.
He played a pivotal role in shaping the sport locally, instrumental in introducing red clay courts to the University of Western Australia Tennis Club and pioneering the introduction of half-court tennis in Australia — initiatives that have helped broaden participation and develop the game.
Ted’s legacy is one of vision, generosity, and an enduring commitment to making tennis more accessible and better for all.
Ted will be greatly missed, he was much loved and he will be fondly remembered.

A fine day at Bunbury TC for the annual Seniors Tri-City event. Early scores seeming to favour the Mandurah young Seniors, but don’t write off the Perth and Bunbury old timers just yet. Perth Seniors pictured below. 5pm update - great win for Bunbury and the southwest! First time in 6 years! 👏👏

Well done to WA’s own Bobbie Edwards on her selection as captain of the Australian women’s 85+ team for the upcoming world championships in Croatia in October. This will be the 8th time Bobbie has represented her country in a Masters team at a world championships. Well done Bobbie!
