Committee 2026/27 Season
Following our recent AGM, we’re pleased to confirm the Morley Eagles committee for the 2026/27 season.
Firstly, the Morley Eagles family down at the Nest would like to congratulate and thank outgoing President Phillip Kendall. After an incredible 6 years leading the club, Phil advised last season he would be stepping down from the role — but in true Phil fashion, he’s already taken on two key roles for the upcoming season which demonstrates the character and love he has for this club.
Your dedication, leadership, and club-first mentality have played a huge part in shaping the club into what it is today. We’re all looking forward to seeing you “relax” and enjoy watching your beautiful young boys out on the diamond for the eagles.
A big thank you to all returning and new committee members for stepping up. Volunteering your time in community sport is what keeps clubs like ours thriving.
Excited for what’s ahead for this great club in season 2026/27.
President — Jayson Miller

Throwback Thursday
In the second last post prior to finishing up our 70th anniversary series, MEBC would like to say a massive thank you to two very special people. Phil Kendall and Kevin House, our current and immediate past president.
For the last 13 years we have had a period of success and stability that has set the club up for the future, in no small part because of Kev and Phil.
Kev is our equal second longest serving president, the man behind the bar, the guy to lock up the club every night and one of the key reasons for the clubs strong off field position, hosting Monday night poker. Kev has coached, managed, supported and spent more hours at the club than most can imagine. Kev is always smiling and positive and you know he is generally going well because when you ask him he invariably replies with “living the dream”.
Phil is in his 6th and final year as president, making him our third longest serving president. Like Kev, Phil has done it all on and off the field and with two boys in teeball and junior baseball has a lot of involvement left in him. Phil has been in charge for some of the most successful years in the club history, both and off the fields. During Phils tenure Morley has been the powerhouse of junior and senior baseball in WA, culminating last year when he guided the club to an unprecedented treble with our State League, State league Reserves and A grade all winning premierships. With a win by the State League team on Thursday night, we will have the opportunity for five premierships (SL, SLR, A, B and N3 grades) coupled with at least four, and potentially five, junior teams in grand finals. Off field under Phils tenure, the club has undertaken significant capital works projects including the new batting cages and several ground upgrades and will see new flood lights installed this off season.
Both these two guys have been amazing presidents and even better people. Kev and Phil typify why Morley Eagles is a great place and why on the 18th of April we are coming together as a club to celebrate 70 years of great history.
GRAND FINAL BOUND 🦅
The State League Reserves have punched their ticket straight through to the Grand Final after a strong 5–1 win over Wanneroo yesterday.
A huge performance on the mound out of the pen from Koskei helped shut the door and seal the result when it mattered most.
That winning feeling… WOOOOOO!
One more to go. 🏆

Who’s Who Wednesday!! 👀
Remember Western Baseball!!!
Graham Johson produced these weekly during the 90’s and before GameChanger, the only way to find out that by the 14th December 1997, Ryan Peck had 16 RBIs, Simon “The Ice Man” Eissens had an ERA of 0.00 and Brendan Thomas had 4 wins and 1 loss was spending $2 and grabbing one. It was also great to know that by the 6th, December 1998, Lee Cahill had hit 8 home runs, Shane Thomas was second in the league with a .451 average and little brother Brendon had a 4.44 era in 27 innings pitched.
The articles were a great read, evidenced by the preview of the 88/89 Grand Final series between Morely and Wanneroo.
And the pictures were able to connect names to faces across the league. See anyone in these you know!!
Anyone got any other Western Baseball magazines lying around? Send us some of the best bits you can find, and also some suggestions on what you would like to see leading up to our 70th anniversary celebration.

Throwback Thursday 🦅
This old cliche.........never gets old, “great clubs are made up of great people.
Ron Macolm Snr, Bob Williamson, Colin Cahill and Eddie Crutchett are four gentlemen of our club who almost need no words to describe their contribution, they are the definition of that old cliche. The Middle Ages of Morley Eagles were successful in a large part because of these four guys.
The Crimea Park club rooms are aptly named the Ron Malcolm (Snr) Hall. The Malcolm family have been at The Eagles from the start and Rons great grand daughter Peyton and great grandson Riley are playing juniors currently, and there hasn’t been a gap over the years. Ron did just about everything at Morley and was a regular at the club until his passing, Rons wife Lorraine doesn’t miss too may games either, juniors or seniors
The Williamson family get one or two mentions at Morley, what were we saying about great people. Bob was another who did it all and is in a tie for third place as our longest serving President. If we had a plaque for the family who did the most, Bob and the Williamsons might have it locked away!
In a tie for second place as our longest serving President is Colin Cahill. Colin was The Pres, the Bar Man, the guy to lock up the club after midnight most nights and the glue that held the club together in the and 80s and 90s.
Last but definitely not least is Ed, no other description required. Ed loved the club, we loved him more! The bar at Crimea is named after Ed, it’s a gesture not solely bestowed due to his love of Corona’s, but because he made a huge contribution to social fabric of the club that lasts today. Eds a past president, but he was so much more for so many years
Remember any great moments from the club’s past, we would love to hear your suggestions!
A special request this week, we are looking for some pictures from the club’s early years, particular from the Sims (Mansel and Grame), Jones (Geroge) and Mateljan (Tony) families, please private message us with any contributions

Who’s Who Wednesday!! 👀
Picking out some of these guys won’t be hard at all, our Masters teams are packed full of familiar names.
Did you know that when the master’s competition resumed in 2005/6 after an 8-year layoff, The Eagles (aka Morley Eagles) won the first year back, were narrowly beaten in the second year and then reeled off 14 straight Grand Final wins to make it 15 in 16 years.
There was also a small startup season in 2004/5 just to test out the new ball park, we won that too!
Unfortunately, we haven’t sourced photos from these early years, but if anyone has some to add please do, the guys in those early teams maybe even more well known.
We would love to hear any memories and kind (or less kind) words on this lot, and also some suggestions on what you would like to see leading up to our 70th anniversary celebration.

Throwback Thursday 🦅
In one of the best weeks at the club every year, this week we will remember one of the most loved characters in our history, Graeme “Spider” Webb.
In advance of this weekend’s Webb Gordon cup, we take a look back at what made this day great, and why we remember Graeme, who tragically lost hist battle with cancer in 2014.
Graeme started playing teeball at Morley in 1984 as a 6-year-old and continued his connection with the club until his passing. Graeme played, coached, was on the committee and was central to so much of what happened at Morley over his life. He was a clubman of the year and genuinely loved by all. Such was Graeme’s standing that the Webb Gordon cup was started the year after his death.
Adam Gordon was held in a similar light at Swans and lost his battle with cancer also in 2014 only weeks apart from Graeme. The link is even stronger with Adam’s sons, Zai and Hunter, both now promising junior playing at Morley.
The tragic loss of two great men so close together inspired Morley and Swans to remember how much they both meant by initiating the Webb Gordon cup. Not only do our two State League clubs play for the cup, but annually some old timers who played with both Graeme and Adam dust off the baseball gear and play a commemorative game for nothing more than a chance to honor the two legends. This Sunday at Crimea the old timers will show off their stuff from 1.45pm and the State League will play for the Webb Gordon cup at 3.30pm, we would love to see you there.
Remember any great moments from the club’s past, we would love to hear your suggestions!
Continue to check in here to keep track of what’s happening at the club in the lead up to the 70th anniversary celebration and contact [email protected] to register your interest for the big celebration in April.
