Happy Mother’s Day to all the incredible mums in our karate family 🌸
Over the years, we’ve had the privilege of seeing so many mothers step onto the floor alongside their children—training together, supporting each other, and sharing a journey that becomes far more than just karate.
One moment that will always stay with us was watching a mother and daughter earn their Black Belts together. Years of training, challenges, perseverance, and growth—side by side. It was an incredible lifelong achievement and a memory they will carry forever.
Karate is about more than kicks and punches—it’s about family, discipline, confidence, and shared milestones.
To all the mums who drive to class, tie belts, encourage through tough days, and sometimes put on the gi and train themselves—we celebrate you.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the incredible mums in our karate family 🌸

Over the years, we’ve had the privilege of seeing so many mothers step onto the floor alongside their children—training together, supporting each other, and sharing a journey that becomes far more than just karate.

Kihon, Kata, and Kumite are not separate parts of Karate — they are one complete system.

Kihon (基本) = Basics
The fundamental techniques: blocks, strikes, kicks, stances, movement.
“All Kihon is taken from Kata.”

Kata (型) = Form
A structured pattern of movement practised to memorise and perfect technique. Kata is studied to understand self defence and application.

Bunkai (分解) = Analysis
The “disassembly” of Kata — breaking movements apart to find their practical self-defence meaning.

Kyogi (教義 / applications) = Pressure Testing
The practical applications that come from Bunkai — fast, efficient ways to receive (Uke) and manage attacks.

Kumite (組手) = Sparring
Where those lessons are tested against a live opponent through timing, distance, control, and adaptability.

The relationship is simple:

Kata → Kihon → Bunkai → Kyogi → Kumite

We learn the form.
We drill the basics.
We discover the meaning.
We apply the principle.
We pressure test it in combat.

Karate is not memorising movements.
It is understanding why they exist.

That is Karate-do.
