It explores how structure, mechanics, and tactical reasoning can unlock the combative potential of traditional forms—especially when facing non-compliant opponents and dynamic situations. At JDK, students engage with both the physical and intellectual dimensions of martial arts. Training is rigorous, but the community is supportive. Shihan Leonard Montagnana of Australian Jiu-Jitsu, Judo & Chinese Boxing Federation of Instructors during Australasian Martial Arts Hall of Fame (AMAHOF) 30th anniversary seminar weekend. I was one of the organisers, so didn't have capacity to participate fully, but willingly volunteered to get my wrist cranked as part of his demo. It was truly an honour to be included this way. In 2016, at the American Karate and Taekwondo Organization’s Annual Seminar, I had the privilege of leading a seminar, and then was completely floored when AKATO awarded me Instructor of the Year. As someone who teaches a small, tight‑knit group, it was an incredible honour.

I’m still grateful to GM Keith Yates for his kind words and for inviting me back to Dallas more often. It meant the world to have both my instructors there: Bryan Robbins (RIP) and GM Mike Proctor, and to meet new friends who made the weekend unforgettable.
