Egotec - Endurance Race Team

929 laps later we have finished! Not without more drama with a dying fuel pump limiting power for the last half hour! We are tired but stoked to hold onto second place on the lap count. All the effort in the lead up was worth it with amazing handling mods achieved and driver effort. We came second "zest" to the well deserved Shake and Bake Pulsar. 🍋

A quarter into the 24hr race the VS is running mint with new suspension and rear end. Wheel nuts came loose but luckily Justin came in before the wheels fell off!

After our last race DNF, Egotec has now completed another BEERS 1000 event - in first place!
After hurriedly getting the front end back together with a new brake caliper and caster arm (amongst other fixes) before the event we thought we'd have no problems.

Warped rotors gave us some terrible shuddering under braking at Thursday practice which meant a rushed trip back to Perth for some new ones (thanks Sherrie) then remembering the centers need machining to suit our custom hubs. Thanks to Shay's boss for use of his shop in Bunbury to get that done at 10pm.

All go Friday for race start. The shuddering wasn't gone but improved. A rear end mechanical issue caused more uncomfortable cornering but the laps kept coming - driving through the problem. We finished the day 10+ laps ahead due to some cool headed driving despite the heat and multiple safety car periods. Our non driving team members also assisted with towing and officals duties throughout the day.

Cooler conditions for Saturday with our rear end issue lessened somehow and putting up with the rest of the noises and vibrations. Some quick driver swaps enabled us to stay out in the lead and keep lapping the car as per our plan.
At the end of 19 hours or racing Justin, Luke, Shay and Matt totalled 583 laps of the long track - with a 27 lap gap to second place. For our efforts the Fully Tapped award was received. Although emphasis is more on the spirit of the event it was amazing to achieve our goal of finishing ahead!

Looking forward to fixing our issues, upgrades and surviving the 24 hour straight event in June.

What a race! All the late nights, research, and preparation paid off. Collie gave us sunny skies, freezing rain, and an hour of pea-soup fog that threatened to pause the event, but it didn't stop the mighty Commodore.

To all of the volunteers, flaggies, and motorplex officials - Thank you! This weekend would not have run as smoothly as it did without all your efforts.

Ian, David, Keelan, and Camille - Congratulations on making history! The amount of legwork that went into making the first non-stop 24-hour car race in Western Australia did not go unnoticed. Thank you for making a dream a reality, and we hope to see you in three months for the Octobeers 1200!
